The Coyotes have been eliminated from the NHL's Playoffs after a severe beating.
14 goals over two games. It's a beating so sever that any jokes I made about it would be censored immediately, apparently.
Who knew Mike Milbury was off limits? God bless his horrendous outdated takes, the guy is a genius. As for the Coyotes losing to Colorado, it was not surprising in anyway.
The Coyotes defeat at the hands of the Avs was about as predictable as the guy running against Vladimir Puting getting poisoned.
Still, they could have put up a better fight. Why do you think I switched allegiances halfway though game four?
The Coyotes won only a single game, and that was a because of a heroic performance by Darcy kuemper.
You have to feel bad for the guy, getting pulled in two straight games after performing so well previously. Hard to pin the loss on him though, as it was just a matter of time.
The Coyotes play far too passive of a game. If you get the goaltending, this type of hockey works, but its far too dependent on one player being a star.
The worst part is that the Coyotes actually have a team with some talent and do not need to play this way.
The Coyotes lost 14-2 over two games. That is what happens when you never have possession of the puck, don't try to score, and play your crappy players more than your stars.
Its what they deserved, pretty much.
While we can delve into where they went wrong and what they do next, the fact is the team is in a state of flux.
Who knows what happened with John Chayka, but it was always unrealistic that he'd stay in the small market forever. Too bad, but c'est la vie. The concerning part is hearing all these rumours about the league trying to install Peter Chiarelli, or the possibly worse idea of the team bringing back Shane Doan in some capacity.
As for this series, it's just honestly sad to see the team go out and acquire the best player in franchise history and then treat him like he's no Brad Richardson.
If the Coyotes have any hope for the future, they must immediately throw water on the Chiaralleli crap. Then they must change coaches. They should use Doan only in a figurehead capacity and in no way allow him to make decisions about the team.
As for the GM, I don't know. Steve Sullivan seems like a nice guy, but the ex-player thing is pretty annoying. I'd be searching for someone smart, young, progressive and creative.
If that happens to be an ex player, OK then. But limiting yourself to ex players is dumb.
To sum up the series, the Coyotes played like garbage, but they did play slightly better than they were coached.
