The trade market continues to get some new names added to it. With a clear affinity for working with St. Louis
word that Brandon Saad may be available is at least worth taking a mental note. Not necessarily a player I’d push for, it’s likely that if St. Louis is calling around Yzerman’s phone at least had an incoming from the offices. Thus far, from the potential available forwards, Ehlers has been a suggestion I’ve chewed on a good deal. One of you can do a victory lap on planting an ear worm. The potential to help Copp is an intriguing factor. However, if Rossi is available that deserves a look as well.
Columbus has broadcast, courtesy of Waddell, that they are open for business. From the Columbus Dispatch (paywall):
New Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell has some work to do to reshape Columbus this offseason. To that end, he told Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch that he is telling teams that “for the right price, everything is in play”. Of course we know Laine is in play, but the blue line holds some intrigue certainly worth exploring. Making space and putting the right package together is going to be the holdup on any meaningful deals but I would love to hear potential ideas from all of you on what you’d look to do and what you’d be willing to give up.
Finally, an old chum of Yzerman has been relieved of his duties in Toronto. Guy Boucher has been around the league, for certain. There’s no knowing if Yzerman would touch base about a potential spot in the organization, but the hockey world is one of relationships and familiarity. Just a quick note as we wait for things to move toward the draft.
The trade market seems to keep growing and has some intriguing names being tossed about. This could be a fun July just in terms of seeing teams get remade and even overhauled. Keep the perspective thoughts coming!
