Martin Jones has long been one of those veteran goalies who finds a home with each passing season. Since leaving the Sharks in 2021 at the end of his six season stay, he's had one season apiece in the Philadelphia, Seattle and Toronto organizations.
Now, at age 34, Jones is in limbo. It's nearly Labor Day and he's still out on the unrestricted free agent market. I thought he generally did a decent job with his last three teams.
Out of curiosity, I asked a source if he's heard anything about where -- or if -- Jones will play in 2024-25.
"Teams are waiting to see if and when there's an injury in camp," the source said. "Jones is at least a stopgap option -- a known quantity -- for a few clubs. I'd assume he's in good shape and at the ready if and when a team calls. He knows the drill."
