Quick Hits: Mondays with Meltzer Looks at Gaudreaus, DelVal Hockey Growth |

This week's Mondays with Meltzer edition of the Flyers Daily Podcast is devoted entirely to the memories and legacies of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. This has been an especially brutal year in the local hockey community with the sudden passing of Tony Voce on July 8 and the horrific deaths of the Gaudreau Brothers on August 29 due to the actions of 43-year old suspected drunk driver Sean Higgins. In the latter half of the podcast, Jason and I discuss the growth through the years of hockey in the greater Philadelphia area.

Originally, we had planned a preview of what will be a very busy month of September for the Flyers and Phantoms: questions and roster battles that loom heading into training camp, the recovery status of Jamie Drysdale, Rasmus Ristolainen and Sean Couturier, the first training camp for Matvei Michkov, etc. Those topics, while certainly relevant to the Flyers, felt trivial as being the top priority to discuss on this Labor Day weekend. These discussions could wait until next Monday's podcast. This week's subject matter had to take priority.
Side note: Flyers Daily's broadcast schedule will soon move from offseason (alternating-day podcasts) to the in-season mode. Jason will be hosting daily Monday through Friday editions of the podcast. Recorded every Sunday night and going live the next day both in-season and during the offseason, the Mondays with Meltzer episodes remain on the familiar schedule.
