Quick Hits: September 9, 2024

1) Rookie Camp Countdown: The Flyers rookie training camp gets underway on the ice at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees on Thursday. On Friday, in advance of the first of two Rookie Series games at the PPL Center in Allentown against the New York Rangers Rookie Camp attendees, the Flyers prospects will hold a morning skate.

Both Friday and Saturday's exhibition games will be streamed live on the Flyers' platforms. There is no TV broadcast this year.

2) On PhiladelphiaFlyers.com, I wrote a pre-Camp preview with six prospects to watch in Rookie Camp. It's a pretty straightforward list: Matvei Michkov, Jett Luchanko, Oliver Bonk, Samu Tuomaala and Carson Bjarnason were the six players highlighted. For more, click here.

3) Flyers Daily: On this week's edition of Mondays with Meltzer, it's an Ask Billy edition in which Jason and I respond to listener questions. Topics include Alexei Kolosov, roster battles on defense, the importance of the upcoming season for Joel Farabee and tons more. Jason also worked in a little tribute to the 36th anniversary of the release of Metallica's "...And Justice for All" album 36 years ago.



4) Today in Flyers History: On September 9, 1993, the Fyers acquired defenseman Stew Malgunas from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a 1995 fifth-round pick (David Arsenault).

5) Sept. 9 Flyers Alumni birthdays: Len Hachborn (1961), Keith Yandle (1986).
