Day 3 scrimmage recap, Preseason opener preview

Recap:Saturday Scrimmages

Team 3 swept a pair of scrimmages on Saturday afternoon at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees. They defeated Team 2 via shootout, 2-1, and then followed up with a 3-2 shootout win over Team 1 in the latter scrimmage.

Team 1: Sean Couturier, Tyson Foerster, Travis Konecny, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Egor Zamula. Goalies were Samuel Ersson and Sam Hilllebrandt.

Team 2: Noah Cates, Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, 2024 first-round pick Jett Luchanko, rookie Matvei Michkov, Owen Tippett, Jamie Drysdale, Erik Johnson, and Nick Seeler. Goalies were Ivan Fedotov and Carson Bjarnason.

Team 3:Bobby Brink, Nick Deslauriers, Garnet Hathaway, Scott Laughton, Travis Sanheim, and Cam York. Goalies were Cal Petersen and Eetu Makiniemi.

Scrimmage 1: Team 3 defeats Team 2 via shootout, 2-1. Rodrigo Abols opened the scoring for Team 2. Cam York later responded for Team 3 to force a shootout. In the ensuing skills competition, Massimo Rizzo netted the winning goal for Team 3.

Scrimmage 2: Team 3 defeats Team 1 via shootout, 3-2. Nicolas Deslauriers, netted two goals for Team 3 during the scrimmage. For Team 1, Tyson Foerster pounced on a loose puck and scored. The other goal was tallied by Nick Capone. Scott Laughton scored the deciding goal in Team 3's second shootout win.

Preview: Flyers at Capitals

The Flyers open their preseason slate on Sunday with a road game against the Washington Capitals. Game time is 3 p.m. EDT. The game will be televised on NHL Network.

Below is Sunday's game roster for the Flyers. It consists of many players who were featured in Team 2 over the first three days of camp, including a line with Frost centering Tippett and Michkov. Other main names include Farabee, Cates, Brink, Luchanko and Olle Lycksell. The blueline most notably features projected partners Nick Seeeler and Jamie Drysdale. Prospects on defense in the opener include Emil Andrae and Adam Ginning,



Drafted 17th overall in the first round of the 2024 Entry Draft, Terik Parascak is slated to make his NHL preseason debut against the Flyers on Sunday. So, too, are defenseman Leon Muggli (drafted in the second round, 52nd overall) and center Eriks Mateiko (third round, 90th overall). Former Tampa Bay Lighting and Chicago Blackhawks winger Taylor Raddysh (Frost's former OHL linemate with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) is also slated to start for Spencer Carbury's team.
