Rangers take on Devils again this evening at MSG, Roster cuts |

The Rangers' B squad lost to the Devils' B squad 3-1 yesterday. Very little can be gleaned from the game since nearly everyone who suited up for the Blueshirts will not be the team when the regular season starts. The only players, besides Jonathan Quick, who is set as the second goalie, who have a realistic chance to suit up Opening Night are Brennan Othmann, Adam Edstrom, Connor Mackey and Victor Manicini.
It's part deux between the two squads as they face off at MSG this evening. New York is dressing more of the "A" squad tonight with a few players on the bubble sprinkled. Edström, Othmann and Brett Berard each get an opportunity to continue to make their case. That said, the fact that the latter two are skating on the bottom trio does not bode well for their chances. Jonny Brodzinski moves up to the second line, stepping into Filip Chytil's role as he is in more of an offensive role rather than a checking
Mackey and Mancini, who are paired tonight, may be battling for one spot. Chad Ruhwedel is on the bubble to make the team as the seventh d-man and has his opportunity to impress this evening. This may be our last look at Dylan Garand, who is slated to open the year at Hartford.
New York made additional roster moves today as they whittle the roster down prior to Opening Night. The changes in the tweets below reduce the roster to 36 overall. I had hoped Adam Syrkora would build off his strong rookie camp to possibly contend for a spot on the parent club, but that proved not to be the case.
Waivers today: If Louis Domingue, Casey Fitzgerald, Anton Blidh and Brandon Scanlin all clear and get sent to Hartford, the roster will be down to 32 players.
