Mini-Preview: Flyers @ Oilers
The Philadelphia Flyers (1-1-0) are in Alberta on Tuesday night to take on the Edmonton Oilers (0-3-0) at Rogers Place. Game time is 10 p.m. EDT. The telecast is on ESPN.
Following an off day on Sunday after opening the season with back-to-back games in Vancouver (3-2 win via shootout) and Calgary (6-3 loss), the Flyers held practice in Calgary on Monday before departing for Edmonton.
Joel Farabee (1g, 1a over the first two games) did not participate in practice.Head coach John Tortorella described the absence as a maintenance day. Farabee is expected to be available to play. Rookie Jett Luchanko is poised to return to the Flyers lineup on Tuesday after being scratched in Calgary. Samuel Ersson is a near-lock to get the start in goal against the Oilers barring something unforeseen.
Based on Monday's practice combos, Ryan Poehling appears likely to be scratched in Edmonton. He had a so-so preseason, was part of a costly defensive zone miscue in Vancouver and took a pair of minor penalties (including one that figured directly into a 4-on-3 power play goal for the Flames) in Calgary.
