Game Four: Hawks vs Flames

The Hawks look to keep the momentum going after their big win Saturday night as they close out the four-game road trip with a stop in Calgary. The Flames are off to a hot start as they are currently one of four teams to remain undefeated in regulation or overtime. Their latest win came off a familiar foe as they handed the Oilers to a 0-3 record, defeating them 4-1 on Sunday. This Flames team was left in limbo as they traded away key pieces this offseason, including goaltender Jacob Markstrom. Many people, myself included, weren’t sure what to expect from this team, but I don’t think anyone could have called this start. The big factor for them has been Huberdeau starting the season strong, putting up 5 points (3-2) in the first three games. To say he has been disappointed since being traded to Calagry would be an understatement, so hopefully this is a sign of him returning to the point per game player back in Florida. They seem to be getting production across the board, as they have nine players averaging a point or better per game to start the year.

Their goaltending has been a nice one, two bunch as guys are playing decent hockey. This is going to be a key season for this position, as Flames management is really looking for one of these young goalies to take the net and run with it. The Hawks will see the 23-year-old Dustin Wolf as he gets his second start of the season. He picked up the win against the Flyers on the 12th, stopping 37 of the 40 shots he faced. He has never faced the Hawks in his short career, so these are always hit-or-miss games for them because they face an unfamiliar goalie.

Projected Line Up

Petr Mrazek will get the nod in the net after a big win on Saturday. In his two starts this year, he has one he wants to forget and one he hopes to see more of. Let’s hope he’s got a little bit more of Saturday's magic in him and he can get some help from the Hawks forward group and up the pressure when it comes to a 5 on 5 attack.
