Ansar Khan did a write up on some “tweaks” to Detroit’s power play. The one I like the most is Debrincat on the top unit. Bringing back Gustafsson and sitting Johansson isn’t a thrill. Sounds like Holl is still in with Eddy on the second line and Fischer is back. Petry is still out.
Tonight will be an ESPN+ or Hulu night. I know some of you have alternative sites but those are the official listing. You may have to pay the $10 or so for the game and get a month of ESPN+ unless you auto renew.
Some quick thoughts. The first three games have been rough. New York, Nashville and Pittsburgh with New York again tonight. Detroit hasn’t yet played within their division. Regardless, Husso is still enjoying the west side as Lyon and Talbot seem to be the go to for now (not opposed to that). The last game was the first in which Detroit failed to score 3 and Shesterkin is just lights out at times. However, you can see the frustration as Raymond and Kane want to get on the board and it still seems like calling up Kasper for the 2nd line isn’t the worst idea (Compher demoted to pp unit 2).
Just going into this one with eyes wide open and seeing if the team can find some goals and stop a few. The only win so far was a 40 save shutout, so the D has to be sharp. Seider and Edvinsson are both encourage glimpses but team D still falls apart too often.
The Fan Duel quandary:
I’d posted a link about Bally’s precarious situation. If you’ve noticed, the “library” studio is now a booth out in the hall where overserved fans try to get on TV. Within the article, a small but poignant point was made that could see the Bally’s monicker all but removed. Fan Duel is rumored to be looking for a 1/10th stake and the naming rights. ESPN Bet will love that move. Amazon continues to provide the stream and more than likely will take over a good chunk of the broadcast. I’m sick of it, you’re sick of it, so I’m leaving it there. But, as long as we’re on the subject, can Pete Rose finally get in the baseball hall of fame since everyone is gambling now? Here’s hoping for a good night and a salute to baseball’s hit king.
