The Flyers are still looking to add a center to their NHL roster.
Sean Couturier is off to a so-so start and his recent injury history is scary (two back surgeries and core muscle surgery in three seasons). Morgan Frost is off to an OK start but head coach John Tortorella does not want him at the top of the lineup. Jett Luchanko has a ton of promise but only turned 18 in late August. Noah Cates has been scratched in three of the first four games and there's disagreement over whether he's better off at center or on left wing. Ryan Poehling had a good game in Seattle after a mediocre camp and not-so-great first three games of the regular season.
Also, there's no one ready or close to coming up down the middle for Lehigh Valley.
The Flyers had interest in Peyton Krebs but he's not a proven upgrade on what's there now. Hearing Philly is scouring the league for at least another middle six option.
