The Utah Hockey Club reported that a pair of their veteran defensemen, Sean Durzi and John Marino would be out long-term. Durzi underwent surgery on his right shoulder and will be out four to six months, while Marino (who was acquired from New Jersey this summer) will be out three to four months after surgery to his back.
The club has recalled young blueliner Maveric Lamoureux from the AHL and Utah is said to be hoping to deal with the absences internally, but after their quick start, with a new franchise generating excitement, and them possessing a boatload of draft picks, it is very possible that GM Bill Armstrong will be on the lookout for defensive help in the next few weeks.
