The short bus was used at my school for kids who had trouble getting to school on time....the tardy bus. My neighbor across the street used to be picked up by it frequently......so in essence..late to the party on q.....tardy in their knowledge of what a good coach is and what he has done since he has been here......and refusal to give any credit...the winning "in spite of"....... - UnnamedSource
Nice try in trying to redeem yourself, but you know damned well what it means. You, sir, have serious issues with telling the truth. |

Turn off ALL ELECTRONIC MEDIA...that is my advice. The loss was painful enough the first time. No need to relive again and again on hilite shows or anywhere else.
This loss was on Q. The line blender produced a LOAD OF BARF. And he won't adjust his game plane. Trying 5 passes every rush to enter the zone WON'T WORK.
Dump and chase WILL..but we're not built for it. - philco28
Hawks ARE built for it: dump, use their speed to get behind the D (which has to turn around and begin skating).
That's where Hawk speed can beat Boston. |

No..it's the FO job to get the correct personnel......for the coach......he hired.....who brought his scheme with him. - UnnamedSource
This is crazy talk.... With every assistant coach the FO need to sit down with him and change their roster based on what he thinks?? Maybe a head coach, but an assistant?
So the Hawks should have changed their roster about 3 times in the last 5 years....
Shoot, if you get a new goal-tending coach maybe you should trade all your goalies away because they don't goaltend the same style the goaltending coach coaches |

West Coast offenses only work with a quality QB, Detroit trains their defensemen to run their defense they way they have it.
Your two examples are of things that have been successful. When has the Hawks PP been successful? When has Kompon's PP been successful??
Great coaches adapt their schemes to the players they have. The Hawks' PP should not be this dreadful with the players they have. - BearsnHawks
Disagree....a GM or a front office hires a coach and that coach brings their scheme with them. That is why there is always a huge roster turn over when a team makes a coaching change. A new coach wants his types of players. My examples weren't always successful......yet when they have the right personnel it becomes successful. When there is an open head coach position a good GM brings in people to interview and in that process they talk shop...schemes....etc. The GM or FO goes with the coach that has the scheme he wants to move forward with. It is then his job to supply the coach with the players to make his scheme successful. |

Fellas, regarding PP. Coaching is a management job. Whether you are manager at McDonalds, 7-11, Microsoft or pro sports, your job is to figure out a way to get your assets to produce. Every manager everywhere has a dream list of assets he would like to have to make his job easy, but if the job was easy, then anyone could do it. So a coach/manager earns his salary in taking what is given to him and making it productive.
You can debate all day long about what the Hawks don't have and what Q was not given. All I know is there are like 40 NHL coaches working and not working that would love to have the roster Q has. The idea that poor Q does not have enough assets...is asinine. At some point, Q figures out what sort of scheme can work with the assets he has to get some productivity. If there are 2 shifts in a row where things don't go right, Q goes apepoop with changes. PP sucks balls for how long, and nothing changes. For God sake dress Steve Montador. That might be the last time we scored 2 pp goals in a game or consecutive games.
So in conclusion, managers manage and maximize output. IF they don't like assets they have, then quit and move on. Or figure out a way to maximize production of what you have. |

I can't even debate this with you....
Why would a scheme change with an assistant coach? I never said assistant |

Yep, coaches buy into a philosophy, no matter how flawed.
Use lovie as your example, or torts,...where did it get them? - dpard
I never said this or that philosophy's always work but a coach coaches what he knows..... |

Iis this wjat it felt like when my Dad was watching the 1992 Hawks ??. - mrpaulish
Actually I was at game 4 at the old Chicago Stadium when the Pens won the cup. No, it was different. Even though they lost 4 straight to the Penguins, the games were exciting to watch and the Hawks were a gritty, physical team that played their hearts out every night. The Pens were just too stacked with talent for the hawks to overcome but the Hawks left everything on the ice every night. Hockey is very different today.

I vividly remember '92 and '71.
Nothing worse than having the CUP raised on your own ice.
