I’m still surprised at what she wrote in her FB post. I get why she’s pissed NYI78 posted a link to a different thread. The thing is it wouldn’t have caused anyone to abandon her thread if they liked her content. Most of the posters here would have commented on both threads. What I find the most irritating is she made it sound like it was only NYI78 trying to steal her traffic, when in fact many people were encouraging him to put up a blog. She doesn’t seem to realize the only reason she had that much traffic was that there wasn’t any alternative for Islander fans on HB. That she is surprised by the mass exodus and her comment about giving her blog ideas (there were many suggestions in the comments) suggests that she never read the comments. If you’re going to disregard feedback from your audience then don’t be shocked when that audience jumps ship.

Biggest problem to me was when we had to actually defend ourselves due to stupid stuff she said. When Ranger fans show up blasting us for the concussion gloating she did towards Nash, it was a joke that we had to spend time distancing ourselves from that train of thought. In addition, the almost daily visits from other teams talking about how bad her blogs were etc....

Of course it goes beyond that. This isn't ESPN, CBSsportsline, or general sports site where novice fans show up to casually talk about the sport. It's a friggin' hockey rumor site full of very informed AVID fans. By keeping her blog going, it makes a mockery of the site and it's participants. I still contend the only reason she's kept on board is because A. She's female B. She has a press pass and C. She's spoken with Garth on numerous occasions. As often as the sites owners credibility is questioned elsewhere, having something like that becomes a bullet point.

But as a fan and participant. Enough is enough.

Assuming she did read the comments and ignored them all then she's blogging for herself and doesn't give a crap what we think. That would mean she's blogging not to to share information, but as means for her to get special access to the team. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt, but you draw your own conclusion.

A few years ago she suggested that the 'Country club' comment might have been directed towards Tavares. In other words she questioned his work ethic. I immediately jumped on her by saying it was completely irresponsible of her to speculate on something like that and then put it in print. It took her 10 minutes to respond to me.
She's very aware of the perception here but since she's not held accountable for what she writes and therefore seemingly has carte blanche, she has dismissed any regard for reader opinion.

Yep...it was speculative beyond words. It was mentioned to the extent of someone saying that some players were being allowed to glide through the day at which point she wondered if they were maybe referring to Tavares.

I told her that while speculation like that may be acceptable in a message thread, due to her direct contract with players and management, something like that could easily be picked up and turned over to the grapevine and thus it was irresponsible of her to guess like that.
She took the criticism well and was friendly, but it was a fine example that yes she was definitely listening to her feedback.

I don't know about that. There are no qualifications to being a blogger and there are a lot of bloggers theses days. I think it puts teams in a tough spot sometimes but they (bloggers in general, not Dee) may be a necessary evil. Besides, Snow was probably glad to be interviewed by Dee because it would be a bunch of softball questions.
