writing a new blog now should be up by 11 - NYI78
Will it include a profile of UFA defensive juggernaut Kyle Wellwood? How about power forward Thomas Hickey?
No wonder she preferred to write recipes and off ice BS.
Looking forward to the next REAL blog

Crazy thing is, if you removed the trade for Kvashi and Yashin, this team suddenly had Luongo, Chara, Jokinen and Spezza in our lineup. Add those guys in the mix with our 2001 playoff team and we look like a friggin' contender. Milbury, for all things, made some very good selections, but simply lacked the patience to see it through. That was the lesson Wang took from that experience and why we see Snow so far to the extreme in terms of patience.

and lets not forget his gem of moving McCabe AND Bertuzzi (who went on to be the best power forward in hockey for a significant stretch) for f-ing over-the-hill Trevor Linden. That deal infuriated me almost as much as the draft day 2000 nonsense.
If you eliminate the three worst MM trades (and possibly three of the worst trades in league history), in 2001, the Isles could have had Bertuzzi, McCabe, Heatley, Luongo, Weekes, Spezza, Jokinen and Chara as opposed to Linden (or whatever table scrap he was subsequently traded for), RDP, Torres, Parrish, Kvasha, Yashin. That 2001 team would have been even better than it was and it wansn't too bad to begin with. But i digress... |
