Just saw an Anthony Weiner for Mayor commercial. Is he really still running? - mighty13duck
Guess we should be glad he's not interested in being a NHL owner.....with our luck.... |

I'm glad he's gone too, he should have been gone years ago. But we've had this discussion on these boards for years: its unfair to hate on RDP because Milbury decided to take him #1 overall and trade away all star talent to make room for him. Its unfair to hate on RDP because Wang was incredibly stupid for giving him a 15-year deal.
I've always maintained that the reason RDP was loathed by the fanbase was because he was the most obvious symbol of all the colossal mistakes Milbury made while running this team and fans always viewed RDP as a symbol of all that has gone wrong with this franchise and all that has held the franchise back. That's how I viewed (and still view) RDP: I respect the fact that he gave everything he had to the franchise, but the mere mention and sight of him reminds me of all that has gone wrong over the past 13 years with this franchise. - Jethro09
For me, he was more what was wrong with Wang than Milbury. Milbury's brain fart in that deal was getting nothing for Luongo AND Jokinen. One 30 goal scorer who couldn't move, for another 30 goal scorer and a top goaltender. Just simply THE worst trade in NHL history, other than MAYBE Ken Hodge for Rick Middleton.....and the trade he made the following June wasn't that far behind either of those.
DiPietro should not have been starting for most of what turned out to be his career. Given that a coach's resume is based on winning, I'll have to go ahead and guess that once Milbury left, all of them were getting their marching orders from above the GM- there's no other explanation for what went on from 2008-2012. Other than one or two seasons, he simply wasn't any good, yet he played anyway. There's a difference between "revolutionizing the position" and "reinventing the wheel", and he never knew where that line was when he crossed it, repeatedly.
It took him five years to learn not to wander off into the corner and pass the puck to the defenseman at the point, and I maintain to this day that he only "learned" not to do that because the trapezoid STOPPED him from doing it. He had just started to learn to stand IN FRONT of the net and try to stop the puck, instead of trying to be an extra 5'10", 150 pound defenseman (I know what his hockey card says; I call bullsh*t) that we didn't need on the ice, when he got hurt, for six consecutive seasons.
He was cr*p; that's what I hated about him, and it was his doing- he probably DID have the talent to play goal at a high level, but he CHOSE to wander around the ice like a jacka$$. The only thing I will say in his defense is this: Sudsie was cr*p, too, and that didn't help....we'll be very lucky if he hasn't ruined Poulin altogether.

as an interesting note, almost every game was in HD last year except for every single gd Isles home telecast, in standard def and terrible quality.
Every Isles road game that was telecast by their opponent was in crystal clear HD. WTF is up with that bullpoop? It's been like this for 4 years, doesn't MSG have the money to broadcast in HD? - Isles_since_6
it has to do with your boy dolan and cablevision...some kind monopoly...only hd on cablevision and a few select carriers that paid through their nose for it... |

it's pretty bad when every Isles game I'm searching to see if the opposing team has a feed I can watch. And it's a sad state when I'm still paying for this poop every year to watch them play in standard def on my 50" hdtv.
On the plus side, I scored 2 goals in one game last night on NHL 13 with marty reasoner.

Outside NY its pretty hard to find the Isles feed in HD on center ice... Most times you have to watch the opponents feed if you need HD that bad.

its more than a little frustrating, given any other team I want to watch is in HD, and the only team I do actually want to see is always in standard def, which looks awful. |

Problem is.... The standard feed at times is so bad you can barely read the numbers on the jersey, forget about following the puck & the screen would go blank for a second several times during the game.
I had Dish last yr but have switched back to Direct TV. I had Direct TV a few yrs ago and the feeds were consistently good so I'm hoping this yr will be better.
With Dish Network, Standard TV was reminiscent of watching a portable TV with Rabbit ears!
And Isles feed never broadcast in HD in my area. I would only get the Isles feed OR the visitors feed. Never both. |

Agreed but look what EK wrote last week:
According to multiple sources today, the Canadiens continue to have interest in bolstering their defense and the Canucks are looking at a forward and a prospect. These talks cooled of for about a week, but something could now happen...as early as this next week.
I could name 25 teams that could be looking to bolster their defense...this is all made up garbage...this website should be closed.... |
