I just don't see a scenario where the Isles come back to Nassau. Especially if the new arena is only going to seat 12,000 or whatever it is - Vukota
Can they increase the size now that they won? Maybe use the excuse Barclays isn't fit for hockey? |

I'd think that would be more of a reason to come back to Nassau?
Edit; I see what you're saying. Why not, they are moving to a 14000 seast arena. I'm sure it could change bfr it's built. Maybe they'll step up the amount of seats after they already got their foot in the door? There is just too many coincidences here. Shat doesn't work like this in the real world unless there is a reason. |

I think most people know my political stance by now on here but I don't think there is Republican and Democrat when it comes to LI politicians. There is just suck which is a constant with both parties. The most corrupt politicians on both sides in the entire country. Next to the Liberal morons in California of course. - Cptmjl

till at least the new building opens... If it opens and there is no word of the isles moving back.... then it was a pipe dream. And there wont be talk of it happening again for 22 or so years.

True, no matter what the building is going to need an anchor tenant. Isles/S.Tigers someone... Since the Isles current lease at the BC is with Bruce Ratner.. its the more likely and wouldn't cost any money to break or be transferred to the new building in Nassau.

Cool that Ratner won the bid. Whatever they're going to do with the arena, hopefully it's something that'll keep some Isles roots on Long Island...moving the Sound Tigers there eventually or whatever. If the Rangers moved their affiliate to the Coliseum, I think that would have been a tough deal for generating future Isles fans on Long Island. Maybe it was a bigger deal in my mind than in reality, but it seems to me if you're attending games locally and following that team, especially as a young kid, you'd be interested in following the players' careers once they make it to the NHL. If those players end up on one local team rather than the other, it's gotta influence who you choose as your team. |

What clubs/countries do you support?
Big fan over here.... - potvin05
Arsenal is my team, although it's getting harder....the guy who owns them spends all of their money on the other 5 teams he owns that don't make any . I also root for FC Kaiserslautern and Werder Bremen, although I don't get to see too many Bundesliga games. FCK is lucky if it's even in Bundesliga 1 half the time anyway, never mind being on TV.
As for a country, WHEN the US gets eliminated, I have to go with Deutschland.. I still think Spain is the best, though.....but I wouldn't lay $$$ against Brazil at home... |

There are no "liberals" when it comes to issues that matter, like actual economics. They're only liberal on BS issues that affect 10% of the population. On issues that affect 100% of the population, like why there is so little demand in a demand economy, they tend to be the same Wall Street a$$ kissers that conservatives are.
This country has been going down the economic cr*pper since the late 1970's, and neither group will do anything about it, because their puppet masters can't see the cliff on the other side of the money bags that they're busy looting.......alright, I'll stop now...... |

YAWN, Is it hockey season yet?
As for Fox and its attempt to challenge ESPN.
FOX Sports "National Sports Report" — originally envisioned as a challenger to ESPN's Sports- Center.
They tried it back in the 90's. A half as$ attempt @ a two hour sports show. It eventually was cut to One hr and then 1/2 hr before become defunct.
Im sure some of you will remember CNN Sports Illustrated (CNNSI)
It was a 24-hour sports news channel. It was created by Time Warner, bringing together its CNN and Sports Illustrated brands and related resources. It was launched with much fanfare on December 12, 1996.
CNN/SI aimed to provide the most comprehensive sports news service on television, including news from around the country and around the world.
I watched it on occasion on Prime Star (Direct TV). Then one day it was gone.
Like it or not ESPN is a monster. IMO the only reason NBC Sports Network survives is.... NHL Hockey! And maybe the Dan Patrick show. - SCLI
not the monster you think their ratings are down 25 percent... fox's morning show will be regis and this british bird georgie Thompson who might one of the hottest chicks in the world.i worked with her for a time on espn press pass and I couldn't put complete thoughts together.fox also stole tsn's lead anchors for their nightly show... they won't out espn out of business but they won't be a joke |
