Where would signing a glorified injury prone 3rd liner for 6 years and close to 6 million fall under? - Sabresfan-365
close to the blues model when they signed Jay McKee to a 4 year 4 mil contract.. |

No where in your post did you mention overpaying a Free Agent...hmmm
Also the Kings model has a ton of high picks either drafted or acquired via trades... - Stripes77
Man this Sabres board is like a piranha filled river in South America, someone has an opinion that differs, and they jump all over your privates. |

How many years and make sure there lucky years. Rebuilds are done thr. drafts and quality trades. Look at the last time we were good. Drury trade, Briere trade, Dumont trade, TC trade. Every center we had was thr. trades. Chicago was lucky they got Tows 3rd overall. The kings model is not a ton of high picks.. Detroit model is not that. Bruins model is not that. Ours is stink last year. Be worse this year. Hope by year three top picks are ready year 4 have the kids start competing.
Maybe year 5 we be good. That's not a model that's a train wreck.... - hafgod
No, under Darcy and RR we were a train wreck.
You have to understand you don't own or manage the team and they aren't going to do everything you want. In fact this wasn't even our choice. HE NEVER HIT THE OPEN MARKET. Tampa does not control our rebuild. If you truly feel this way about our team remember this is America(or Canada), you are free to jump ship to another team. |

You're right. Trades have been important. And if you listened to Murray, you'd know that they plan on using trades to help stock the team up with the players they want. However, you need to have assets to do that, and that's what they've been gearing up. That's why there's so many draft picks that they've acquired.
It's not actually feasible for them to keep every pick and think that that's all they have to do. There isn't even enough room in the organization to keep them all, as you can only have 50 guys total under contract at any given time.
You have to give Murray a little time to get things done. You can tell he's not just going to sit on draft picks and keep the players for the team forever just in the trade for Fasching. He gave LA back the 2 picks they sent us for Regehr to get a player he wanted.
He doesn't expect the rebuild to take 5 years. Signing a guy like Callahan to the contract he just got, would only set us back in 2 or 3 years when we don't have the cap space to do what we need. |

If he didn't contradict his original statement with that post I wouldn't have called him out. But if you are gonna cry a river about not getting a player via free agency and list other teams models that don't use the Free Agent route to build a team prepare to hear about it.
Also cute name my guess is you won't be around long enough to say something stupid and get called out for it.
FYI everyone has said something stupid on here but if you can't take the push back from it this is not the place for you "ImNoTroll" |

There was only one way to rebuild, and that was with Callahan. (frank) it, were done now. Lets trade all our picks and get the old core back. Its the best we can do. - Buffalo-Sabres
Roy and Timmay , Van and Miller are all looking for a team to play on. Hell, Petey might leave GR55 too. |

Plus, we may get Soupy back. We could probably pry MacArthur back and find Adam Mair to get things back to the Glory Days. |

There is no 1 way to rebuild.
The Sabres model will be through the draft, and acquiring younger players through trade, and letting them battle themselves for roster spots.
IMO we are doing this right for once. We have a ridiculous amount of potential 2-4 liners, and 2-6 defensemen.
IMO Myers, Risto, McCabe, Compher, Girgensons, and possibly Armia will be the core that are guaranteed (**IMO**) to be here in 2-3 years when we are ready.
Add in the #2 pick, assets like Hodgson, Grigorenko, multiple 1sts, multiple 2nds will be used to aquire NHL ready pieces.
This is exciting |

we have a lot of potential depth and role players in the ranks. we just need one or two of them to overachieve and find a few more from the outside to push us over.. at this point patience is going to be key..
