They were always focused on pushing guys who can draw but they just seem lazy nowadays with trying to get more guys over. They see the easiest road possible and just drive it down the fans collective throats until they finally by hook or by crook book a way to make it work instead of broadening the field of potential top guys.

Basically the exact opposite of the attitude era.

When was the last time Ambrose tried to get his "lunatic fringe" character over in a promo or a segment that didn't involve throwing popcorn? All he does now is make faces.

I said this a while ago to Laughs, but most of the roster legitimately only gets their entrance to get their character over. Ring work is fun and all, but its almost become boring. They're all terrific but most of them all wrestle the same style.

Without WCW the WWE can now afford to send everyone down to NXT to turn them all into Cody Rhodes and change their style to the "WWE style"

one thing i notice is that no one ever cuts a backstage promo at the camera aka talking directly to their opponent.

that poop was always great and intense.

in the old days you'd address Mean Gene, but then boom it was right into the camera. Now the guys just (frank)ing talk to tom or renee or jojo throughout the whole promo... no one ever gets fired up anymore during these things.

really only Wyatt and Stardust cut at-the-camera promos these days

remember how great the shield promos were back stage? and then they just stopped because eh.

remember when JBL's entire build against Rey Mysterio/Eddie Guerrero had no in-ring confrontations besides like maybe one pull apart brawl but it was entirely promos. sympathetic baby face promos from a charismatic eddie and you had rey-rey just doing whatever. then JBL would be out in Texas somewhere beating up on Mexican immigrants and talk about how he's a wrestling god, rich, and everyone in the crowd is poor, stupid and bad.

or edge's segment building his cena feud in 05 was basically him bragging about banging Lita and how he was way cooler than everyone and he'd do things that would make people boo him.
