RVD, Raven and Rhyno were the guys as far as I was aware. I know when i used to watch on Spike RVD always seemed to get the biggest pop.

apparently the Jags owner started a new one he wants to rival vince but it'll probably be more XFL to the NFL. I saw some quote from Cody rhodes on Twitter and he's basically just smark bashing WWE, as if no one has done that before as a gimmick for their promotion.

AEW will be run by guys who are marks for themselves with a huge bank account like WCW. The difference is that the Khan family will pull the plug sooner for the son's vanity project.

that's my vibe as well. it just reeks of "we're (frank)ing awesome. we're so awesome we can do better than WWE because WE KNOW WHAT REAL WRESTLING IS!"

list of things I've seen that make it "different":
- no writers, because the wrestlers are better writers
- no farm system, cycle indy talent (good for them)
- less dates, taping TV, fewer broadcast shows (minor league but I get why you'd do it)
- Win/Loss record rankings like its UFC, so whoever jobs is going to be a jobber for life
- then i saw a bunch of stuff of how they're going to re-do "big indy" moments and stuff because now funding

i get why people poop on WWE, lord knows we all do, but its run like a business, same way MLB and NFL run themselves, for a reason. that's why its still around and is the Big Dog and is getting 2 (frank)ing billion (frank)ing dollars for smackdown! of all programs.

i feel like these guys figure the online smarks are a bigger market than they truly are. wrestling is niche, and indy-style wrestling is even more niche.

this AEW reeks of TNA in like 08/09 when Hogan/Bischoff/Flair figured they could beat WWE because they were such great wrestlers in their prime.

also if this is just a big indy promotion where they're going to let guys move in and out, then I'm curious how many "main stream" guys will leave the security of WWE. maybe its a higher payday per event, but for a lot of guys things like a guaranteed downside, merch pre-handled for you, residuals from DVDs/netWWErk, whatever health insurance and travel is covered by the company is probably better than having to handle all of that on your own

Agreed on both posts. Smarks hate paying for anything. Why WWE created their network, make it $10 to watch their ppvs instead of charging $50 and no buys so they opt to stream instead. $10 with unlimited access to a great library and original content made streaming almost obsolete. Only the cheapest have held off.

the dumbest is that i've seen stuff online, mainly wreddit but my wrassling follows on twitter too, that are like:

"IMAGINE IF AEW GETS ADAM COLE! THAT WOULD BE A HUGE DRAW AND IN AEW HE COULD BE A HUGE MEGA STAR UNLIKE IN WWE"

seen the same poop for guys like Chad Gable, Apollo Crews, a bunch of guys I found out are NXT talents, etc.

Even getting Ambrose probably won't move the needle one bit to get Jeb from Tallahassee into a AEW customer.

WWE was "smart" if you believe Vince intentionally never made another Rock/Austin so that Vince controlled the star power versus the wrestler. because even AJ or DB moving to that company isn't going to cause more than a handful of ripples.

Like they'd need Cena, Roman and Brock and they're never getting even a returned text message from those guys.
