With the lack of productivity from our forwards, should MB be looking to make a trade for a 1st line center? We are lucky to be where we are but things can be very different by the end of this road trip.

Here's the problem....Desharnais and $3.5 worth of cap and a coach weho loves him and puts him in ever possibl situation to succeed. A #1 center who has 1 goal 5on5 in his last 47 games.

We have no cap space so have no chance of upgrading this position unless we offload a guy like Eller and a highly touted pick or prospect.

At this stage, I would consider moving Eller and a top pick or prospect. I would drop DD to the third line without a hesitation if we couldn’t unload him.

I would also try playing Chucky on the first line center position on the power play. Bigger, more physical, great passer and can also score. Got to try something, cause everything else doesn’t work.

We have 12 forwards right now and arguably only 8 top 9 with Prust out of position or role. So if we deal Eller then we are in the same boat. Desharnais cannot produce with arguably a top 5 goal scorer in the NHL so what is he going to do on a 3rd line?

And supposed that does happen and Galchenyuk moves to center. it means Eller fetches a replacement for the 2nd line maybe to replaced Galchenyuk's spot and now we have a pathetic 3rd line with Desharnais-Prust.

Desharnais is hurting the club but he is a favorite of the coach so screwed.

Honestly don;t think it means much. Desharnais gets 0 defensive minutes, 0 PK time, and does get PP time. So Pleks and Galchenyuk spend a good portion of their minutes in defensive zone. Desharnais is almost never takes a defensive faceoff unless on an icing.

IMO these stats are skewed

Since beating Boston 2-0, we have only picked up 3 out of 14 points. 7 games and under 2 goals per game, no offense, no goal on the PP, MB will be scratching his head by the end of next week.

These stats skew Desharnais for the better. If he had more minutes on the PK (assuming he wasn't netting insane pk points) his points per 60 mins would be lower.

The only players that should be talked about in a trade right now is DD (first and foremost), Emelin, Allen, Gonchar and any prospect not named Tinordi, Beaulieu and McCarron, IMO. If by some miracle that any combination of that gets you a scoring forward than you pull the trigger and run to the parking lot, START THE CAR!!

I watched Hudon play the other night against Adirondack. This kid is smooth, I can not wait until he is in the lineup (prob. not for a year or two). On the other hand, Tinordi looked like a lost cause! Yeah he has size but who the hell cares! package him up to Edmonton.

The lineup the Habs have used the last couple games has been an quite enjoyable to watch. Its about time you broke up your lines and mixed them up. I would use Eller, and Tinordi as Trade Bait.

I think they need an RW as Parenteau, Weise and Gallagher is kind of weak.

Don't give up on Tiniordi or mcCarron. I've seen Mac play a couple of times this year and he has been a dominant player. In London he was playing 1st line minutes and even got the checking role as a center. He excelled at it. I was at the same in Sarnia when he put up 6 points. Was ridiculously good. Now he is with Oshawa and will get a chance at the Memorial cup.

As for Tinordi, I know people are starting to see bust all over him, but every hockey mind says, big kids, especially D need to be patient. Don't give up yet. Maybe he won;t be that #2 that everyone thought but he is right now a better option that many #5-6 guys on club.

Funny, MB was at the Blackhawks game yesterday and twitter exploded saying he was heavily scouting Sharp. At $5.9 for another 2 years I am not sure he'd be my target but none the less I wonder who Bergevin had his eye on?

Nothing to go on but my gutt has been saying Bryan Bickell.

Bickell is BIG boy! Would be nice to have that size and player up front. But what would he cost? Who do you see going the other way?

I don't wan to start a rumour at all, but it was just a gutt feeling that MB was looking at him. Thing with trading with CHicago is that they don;t need picks or players but rather guys on a roster who can help them out.

Why not something like Sekac and Emelin in exchange for Bickell.
I'd then recall Tinordi and then use Eller as trade bait to try to land a Dman

Bickell is big but relatively useless. We need size in the top 6, not just size. Sharp would be a pipe dream.

I still maintain Yakupov is a good option if he can be a "buy low" type of trade. It's Edmonton so we know they need D. Maybe MB could sell them the pile of crap that is Emelin (more likely Tinordi [if they want defensive D] or Beaulieu). As bad as Yakupov has looked, I think he'd still cost a significant amount in return including our first rounder this year and a younger roster player.

I cannot imagine Yakupov here. Therrien would blow a gasket with his lack of back checking and offensive zone turnovers. Same thought process with a guy like kessel. Could totally imagine that offensive ability but players need to be able to play at both ends of the ice here. Guy like Sharp fits that mold.
