Not that I agree with bringing in hamhuis....but there is no rebuild blue print per say - Fakepartofme
Really... |
|
|
|
Hamhuis with just 1 more year left on his contract after current season is Leafs could definitely use.
He'll be a direct upgrade on top4.
Good compliment to Gardiner.
If Leafs get into playoffs, they want to try and win a few games as well - hence why the team could use an upgrade on D.
And then after next season he leaves the team to end his career with Vancouver. |

It's like the puck over the glass rule - no referee's discretion.
You may hate the rule, but the ref got it right. - Atomic Wedgie
I watched it a few times....really don't see his glove touch the puck.
It's about time we got a break though |

the only player in the lineup that came from a trade since LouLams took over is Andersen
the only players in the lineup from FA signings are Martin, Marincin, Polak, and Hunwick
Other than Andersen I would not call any of these guys core players.
they are primarily taking the draft and develop route... I know what they say about "if it makes sense we do it" but their actual actions have been to build through the draft - Dozzer
Not to say they havent been in on any potential trades...again, just because they havent done a lot of it since Lou took over...doesnt mean they wont.....they simply havent had the oppoturnity to...the team was horrible.
Now the team might make the playoffs.....may change things for Lou. He may be willing to make some cheap moves to improve in certain areas. These trades could be for short term help or long term....as long as he feels they fit the plan.
I believe Lou traded for Marincin in his first week. |

He was pretty good last season. - AdamFrench
he's so frustrating to watch.
kinda guy that does good things sometimes, but bad things a lot of times. leaves you thinking he should be better than he is.
i wouldn't mind seeing him in Toronto for 6 weeks before trying to sign him long-term. see if babcock thinks he can work with him. |

There were multiple bad calls against Dallas last night. Kadri's hook was soft as hell too but Toronto still came out on the winning side of the calls. Good. - daeth
True,.. I only seen Kadri hammer the guy with the cross check and I didn't notice the hook. |

Haven't seen it since Ferraro was breaking into tears about it. Didn't he bat with his right glove? (Not saying intentionally but I thought he knocks it?)
Are there any videos out there from tweets or anything? |

Speaking of Ferraro. He's 10000 times better than Millen or Craig Simpson. I actually enjoy listening to him and he seems to know whats going on. Why can't TSN have more games |

I agree and at least he's calls himself out when he makes a mistake.
He was calling Niemi a sieve on the Matthews goal until he realized it was deflected.

Thing I think could work for Stone here is that the Leafs don't have a good player on the PP from the backend. Rielly is playing less and less on the PP. Jake is fine on it, but not a real QB. Zaitsev similar. Carrick isn't given that shot. Stone does almost all of his damage being the threat on the PP and could be a more interesting fit. |

Has worked for some, not others.
Draft and keep high picks.....usually the only two staples of a rebuild
others have also included, adding FA's, making trades, picking up waivers, signing college kids etc.
there's no specific blueprint for the leafs as they've said outside of ....Draft properly and quality players, dont make foolish trades involving high pics.
But they'll bring in vets if needed and will make trades if needed.
And lou will....if he feels its right. |

I just watched it, I don't see him touch it but the ref had a way better angle then any camera they showed.

marincin was acquired a month prior to LouLams hiring actually
i am not disagreeing with you just to be clear... but to me, it seems their approach is draft and develop first, and if a trade makes sense with that philosophy then they do it. if the trade doesnt work within that concept the leafs dont seem to be willing to do it. this is just my take on things is all.

very simple recipe for the pp: give puck to Marner (pp1) or Matthew (pp2) and goals will come.
Zaitsev, Gardiner / Rielly first need to think about making sure no breakout, and occassionally shoot puck at goal. |

Where did you watch it? You tape games on a VCR don't you, Garnie...
I scanned through twitter and Dallas fans are really upset about the fact that Faksa still had his hands on his stick which to them means no penalty.... but of course, hands on the stick is entirely irrelevant to the rule. |

I have a hard time believing the linesman would call this incorrectly being THAT close and staring directly down at the play.

Wasnt Lou hired July 23rd and Marincin acquired July 27th?
or was it June 27th?
I may have my months mixed up.
Just looked it up....it was june.....my bad......the draft.
But yes, we are saying the same thing. |

yeah, on traditional PP setup i think with his shot, stone could be good.
i was expecting rielly to run the 1-3-1 PP that babcock often deploys really well. you need a dynamic dman at the top to run that. agreed that none of the leafs dman have been really good at it. OEL runs the 1-3-1 in AZ. stone is a bystander for that and was absolutely terrible at running the PP with OEL out last year. it was a PP for the other team the way stone ran it. |
