I'm not sure about fastest player ever if we are talking about just flat out speed, but when you measure the speed at which he plays when he has the puck, then he is definitely in the very top tier if not the top. Time will tell. You have to catch him to hit him, but the NHL has a way of wearing down guys legs pretty quickly. I fully expect him to be able to adjust, but his just blowing by guys will change as teams adjust the way they defend him and as he naturally slows as he ages. - TheTrob
They kid is 20.... I do not think he is going to be slowing down anytime soon. Teams had an entire season to adjust, including the playoffs. I really don't understand how his legs are just going to wear down. Saad is 24 and entering his 6th season. He has not lost a step. Has Kane lost as step? No. Is Mcdavid going to be a bit slower at 30? Sure but that is a decade from now.

I remember a discussion about Harmonic on this board last season. Someone, I can't remember who, posted some of his stats and well, he kinda sucks. Especially for his salary. He sounded like just the kind of player the Blackhawks needed but looking into it deeper, probably better that they didn't get him. - matt_ahrens
Well he makes about the same money as Connor Murphy.
Hamonic is reasonably priced for what he is as an NHL defenceman - which is a 2nd pairing guy on an average team. |

Starting a rookie on his offside, c'mon man. Like the lines otherwise. Hope Wingels can unseat Bouma sooner than later. |

That's not his off side. He shoots right. They only moved him to LW in his last year of juniors for PP time to be lined up for better shots form the slot. |

Powers noted Wingels and Bouma were taking turns at that position so we see. |

A defenseman's "side" is the side he shoots; an RD shoots right, a LD shoots left. It's the opposite (generally) for forwards; RWs shoot left (like Kane) and LW is where right shooters go. |

D is more cut and dry (LD to RD passes on forehand on the breakout)
Forwards develop different preferences based on what they like to do, Panarin/Kane prefer playing on their "off" side RW shooting Left and LW shooting Right, but other forwards (Saad, Jamie Benn, TJ Oshie etc) prefer to play the same side they shoot.
There are benefits to both, playing on your "off" wing is a little better for setting up the cross ice one-timers (Panarin/Ovie/Kane) but playing on the same side is a little better at protecting the puck going outside and digging it out of the corner on the dump/chase.
It also depends on which way your linemates and especially your Center shoots, also how many forwards are at each position on your team. |

I've played hockey for 20+ years. Wingers "sides" aren't as necessary as D-men. it's mostly where they played growing up. ADB was a RW in juniors. He did play some left on the powerplay, but he was a RW. The handedness isn't that big of a deal, honestly. |

THIS.
It will be really helpful if ADB can play both sides effectively to be honest. Q will love that versatility.
I think having him with Sharp on that 3rd line is about balance but maybe also because of their chemistry off the ice. You guys read that Athletic story? Looks like Sharpie has taken the kid under his wing. |

What exactly is Shaprie teaching the kid.... On a serious note, a vet taking ADB under his wing is awesome...and even more awesome is ADB accepting |

I just read it. That's a great benefit for ADB. They are kind of similar style players. Not a bad mentor for the kid. I wonder if that's why they are on the same line. |

Franson and Oesterle were last in the room, so appear to be the defensive scratches tonight. Forsling/Rutta expected to play. #Blackhawks

I saw that. Sometimes he was the best defenseman including Keith. He's looking like a steal. |

If that line can jell, its is similar to Sharp Vermette TT from 2015, less face offs. Don't expect Cat to be any worse that TT. He has shown in the preseason that he is less allergic to contact than TT and a much better shooter. |

I think so too...I just have to keep reminding myself that it was only the preseason. I'm trying to temper my expectations. |
