Was very excited to see Saad and a high ceiling young goalie come back for Panarin. Panarin's production has the potential to be replicated by guys like Schmaltz and ADB but Saad's two way play and speed and size and possession game is in desperate need this year with Hossa out.
If 19 and a solid 3rd pairing can get going by January Hawks can make a serious run. - busmaster
I am not even close to being worried about losing Panarin. Hartman scored FIVE POINTS in that spot tonight. Saad, yet again, scores a hat trick from within 3 feet. Bowman's best trade he has ever made. Every line was making things happen tonight.

What did everyone think of Cat. I was questioning why he was with AA and Sharp but I thought he played pretty good. I know they say he is not fast but in the offence zone he is like a water bug just gets to the puck out of nowhere or into the open . Hayden I thought played great too |

He does not have high end wheels, but he seems to be quick and very strong on the puck for a guy his size. He makes smart plays with the puck and looks like he belongs. He dropped Ian Cole who is listed at 6'1" 219lbs so he's no Tuevo Teravainen. LOL |

Hayden was awesome as he has been all year and I am glad he didn't draw into a meaningless useless fight with that moron reaves ....Cat was solid. I had no issues and he played with a little spunk. He certainly didn't embarrass himself. For the kids first game it was solid and even Pens fans in my house thought he was a good looking player. |

Agreed, 100%. The Hawks look like a completely different team on the ice with the size added at forward and defense. It's one game, but Stan Bowman's offseason grade is probably modified in the eyes of many on this EXTREMELY small sample size. Penguins played a tough game vs STL last night, but the Hawks looked bigger, faster and much more physical in all areas. That size/speed added to the dynamic playmaking of Kane, Schmaltz and Co, with the rock solid Crawford in goal.....heck of a start to the season.
Again, THANK YOU HOCKEY GODS SCHMALTZ DIDNT TEAR UP HIS KNEE!!!! |

AA 15 for 21 at the dot! Maybe moving him off of Kane's line means he's facing off against less talented center men, which could improve his numbers? It could be a fluke but good start regardless. - matt_ahrens
Anisimov did face lower QOC than with Kane, yes - faced some dude named McKegg.
Toews v Crosby, Schmaltz v Malkin, Kero vs 4th line nobody. |

First time the team scores 10 goals since 1988 is as they celebrate 10 years of 1988 being on the team. Not bad. |

Enzo...This was the wet blanket on my night when I saw him leave. That kid is gonna be a star and we lose him in Game 1? I was concocting trades to "replace" him...glad we can shelve those ideas.
Bottom line...THIS IS A GOOD team. Lets enjoy it and see where it goes. |

And why should we? we're on a 820 goal pace for the regular season!
Seriously... third pairing still has a fair chance of being a dumpster fire this year. Hope for the best. |

LOL of course 820 goals. Any pair with Murphy on it is potentially a dumpster fire. His hit on Geno was nice, but otherwise |

Glad Schmaltzey's ok. Now if Stan can package him in a trade with Hartman, DeBrincat, Forsling and a 1st for Dutch this team might just be able to play with some of the league's better teams. |

Officially a good game for Murphy. - breadbag
I cannot say that I heard his name mentioned once all night by Foley and Konroyd. I guess that is good? |

Nah, even then the Hawks are still a lottery team. |
