Outside of the refs this was a pretty entertaining tilt. Appears that both teams are in for a fun season.
See you January 24th - As_I_See_It
Thank you for a very intelligent post.....God bless |

Play like that regularly 3 games into season? Just a lil early to be on the ledge,eh? - dpard
No ledge...
Simple observation. Hawks were outplayed badly after 20 min...Forsberg stole a point.
Looking forward to Schmaltz' return...and let's hope he stays in the lineup for awhile. |

The penalty fest in this game was pathetic. I thought I was watching hockey not a pp competition. Most the slashes weren't even on the hands. Hartman got away with a dive. The hit on debricant was a judgement call but looks bad that they only called it because he stayed on the ice. |

How was that hit a judgement call? Just like Schmaltz the game before, each player never touched the puck. What is interference then? I hope that next game every player is checked away from the puck. Is that the kind of game you want? |

I think what has people frustrated is getting skated out the rink...43-21 shots on goal is legitimately not competitive. That's the worry. However, it's early and the team should improve and Schmaltz WILL make a difference. Kane line much better with 8 out there. - kwolf68
It is early. They had an off night and still got a point with a chance to win. Five out of 6 possible pts in the first three games against three other playoff calber teams...I'll take it. |

Okay sure, but come on lol. The level of distress shown so far after a single game is as dumb as people thinking they'd score 5-10 goals every game after the first two. If people are going to freak, at least add something useful to the discussion beyond just rage lol.
Like for example, Hawks need to be better on the PP - if not scoring, then at least don't lose momentum. They let the special teams drag them down more than anything else. The other two games was 5v5 dominance and the minute they have to PP/PK a lot, they get winded/tired too quickly.
Also, I do not like Kane being used on a pseudo-checking line even if Anisimov is the next best defensive center after Toews. It's a waste and he's ineffective in that role. I don't think I'll ever understand when / why Q decides to blend in game lol. Kane had one of his worst games in a while.
And I don't really get Bouma's role considering he's not even being used on the PK. I wonder if Q just really didn't like what he saw in the pre-season (I certainly didn't). He's not a problem per say but I don't get it.
I thought Seabrook had a solid game considering. Forsling had some yips. Rutta was solid in the first 30 and then rough and did not know how to cover Matthews at the end. I didn't notice Kempny-Murphy much, dunno if that's good or bad. Forwards were more a mess and I think the d couldn't compensate well with that much disjointedness. |

So .......hawks were on road, starting backup goalie, and 2C was out.
If the first 2 wins can be discounted, so can this OT loss...right tsj? |
|
|
|
are people really female doging about the Hawks only taking 5 of the first 6pts on the season?
Expectations need to be tempered just a bit! |
|
|
|
Outplayed, ehhhhh, 5 on 5 play we gave up 2 goals from virtually the same spot due to 2 LW being out of position. Penalties were a joke, but one thing that is evident Seabrook and Keith have lost a step |

Yes out of 9 periods they were outplayed in two so far. AFAIC that bodes pretty well and doesn't equte to few points.

Hey! I will take the point. Toews and Kane looked out of sink after the first period. The top two lines never really got their act together. No chemistry. However , I thought some of our first year players played quite well. The D Cat created a couple of great passes that should have been put in the net... Oh well ! There is always tomorrow...beat those Canadians and all will be forgiven. Go Hawks!

Man, I was just thinking Seabrook and Keith looked pretty good against that fast team lol. Not perfect but I thought Seabrook esp played pretty smart this game. The defense was ~fine minus some hiccups but the issue was with the forwards imo. They just didn't cover or support the defense properly. |

Might want to acknowledge the ferocious forecheck the Leafs threw at the Hawks after they made it 2-1. There were 2 good teams on the ice playing at high speed.
3rd game in 5 nights, lots of penalties to kill. Takes a toll toward the end of the game. |

I'm not complaining...I still have no idea what this group will ultimately do after all the off season changes.
Just making observations...and writing opinions...most of which end up wrong when the dust settles.
Should be an interesting season. |

Yep, no argument. Weird thing is I thought Murphy played pretty well...we just didn't drive enough possession...hard to do that winning 39% on the dot, chasing the PK all night |

Last 40 minutes were not pretty. Fortunate to find a point.

Thought the Leafs looked really good tonight - ton of speed.
You've got a young defense that needs time to develop on the Hawks side...going to take some time.
Hawks looked out of sink at times - and awful in the OT and the Leafs get some credit for that. Clearly the Hawks missed Schmaltz tonight. How was AA at the dot? Just wondering...
Forsberg played great tonight - I thought this was a great move by Stan - getting him in the deal.
Take the point and Onto Habland tomorrow night. |

30 minutes really. They were doing well up until right before the Leafs first goal and then it tapered off. |
