Man, I was just thinking Seabrook and Keith looked pretty good against that fast team lol. Not perfect but I thought Seabrook esp played pretty smart this game. The defense was ~fine minus some hiccups but the issue was with the forwards imo. They just cover or support the defense properly. - L_B_R
I thought much the same. Keith and Seabrook were pretty good tonight. Keith broke up a lot of plays. |

Even strength shot attempts after the first period tonight:
Leafs 44
Blackhawks 7 - Cooshie
I see 33-7 - but the point doesn’t change. |

Yep, no argument. Weird thing is I thought Murphy played pretty well...we just didn't drive enough possession...hard to do that winning 39% on the dot, chasing the PK all night - kwolf68
How is that weird? You're like his #1 fan.
Thought he had a good game too. Give the Leafs credit but to a certain degree I think the Hawks got the lead and took their foot off the gas...or just sucked.
Hard to tell but I still like what I'm seeing overall after three games and think this team will be fun to watch most nights. |

are people really female doging about the Hawks only taking 5 of the first 6pts on the season?
Expectations need to be tempered just a bit! - Cooshie
noooo...each game is different and each game stands alone...
first 2 games they were almost flawless 5 on 5...
tonight they had a game won they shouldn't have on the road vs a team that was also filling the net and coughed up 2 3rd period goals and had nothing left in OT...
if they are going to call pens like that..and i have no problem with it; then they better get the pp going...however the pp has been issue the entire coach Q tenure and still went 3 for 3 in the finals

Good game- poopty refs both ways. - bryant
Refs were ok - this is how they called’em pre season - both slashing and FOs (altho it seems they aren’t telling the players why they were being ejected from the dot).
Looks like this is the way they will call both - players have to adjust. |

Thought the Leafs looked really good tonight - ton of speed.
You've got a young defense that needs time to develop on the Hawks side...going to take some time.
Hawks looked out of sink at times - and awful in the OT and the Leafs get some credit for that. Clearly the Hawks missed Schmaltz tonight. How was AA at the dot? Just wondering...
Forsberg played great tonight - I thought this was a great move by Stan - getting him in the deal.
Take the point and Onto Habland tomorrow night. - DK002

The refs kinda stole the momentum of the game with all the faceoff crap and light calls. Not very consistent when they didn't call the first two games like this. What I don't buy from the refs is that they had a problem with the draw so many times on the first attempt, but didn't once call anything on the second attempt at the draw. This is more about trying to send a message then call a game correctly. Either way, Hawks took the foot off the gas tonight and they did miss Schmaltz. Probably going to see a couple lineup tweaks for tomorrow, and probably Cody Franson will play. |

The rules have changed, defenceman can't use the stick like they have in the past, so they need to adapt. Its about time the league stopped ignoring the blatant fouls, hope it continues.
Game was played at high speed, terrific goaltending, 7 goals total - not gonna see many better games in the season. |

They got owned statistically but I think that was more on Hartman-Anisimov-Kane than on them. Leafs had two guys stand up Kane whenever he tried to carry (still did okay there but way below his regs) and no one else could transition into zone. Leafs were just quicker to retrieve when they tried to dump too. Didn't help that the Anisimov line started the first 40 of the game as the team with the most DZS. Only in the 3rd did Kane start getting more OZS. |

I noticed the second guy backing off a lot - just kind of putting his stick in there, making sure he didn’t get a penalty. |

Toews has no business being on the ice 3 on 3 until he can prove he can stay on his feet when barely touched or not handle the puck like a hand grenade.
Hartman, Panik, Debricant and Sharp should all get opportunity before him. He hasn't improved this off season once again...I wonder what the injury excuse will be this time |

It wasn't all night but pretty much everyone got beat towards the end. The fact that a line with Kane had to resort to dump/chase is just silly. Lack of forward support is what did that pair in statistically, otherwise they stopped a lot of dangerous plays considering. |

That game was a lot of fun to watch. Forsberg was spectacular. - BetterCallSaul
From a Hawks perspective, Forsberg's play was the best aspect of tonight's contest. |

Wow. jsut finished watching the game. Seemed like a pretty pathetic effort by the core tonight. Or at least after the first. I wish they were all putting as much effort as Debrincat out there (even though he go t rocked.) |

I can't get over how big of a gamer the Cat has been so far. He's been dishing some pretty nifty passes and creating chances, but also doesn't take sh*t. He's a warrior, all 5'7 of him, even if he got knocked on his ass tonight. |

well 3 on 3 ought to be hoot with these 2 teams...
i don't mind the all pens...i like the slash rule and being enforced..eventually the players will figure it out...
a stick in the vicinity of the hands or waist is getting called - bogiedoc
I don't mind it either. I hope the refs are consistent with it and the players figure it out. But most importantly, I hope the refs call it this way in the playoffs too and not revert to the way it has been. |
