Has anyone else been tracking Hawks' defensive prospect Joni Tuulola? Kid has good size and wheels (6'3" - 180 lbs) and has had a monster start to the year in SM-Liiga (highest level of pro hockey in Finland) with 2 goals and 8 assists through his first 12 games.
Here's a youtube link to a video of him scoring a hat trick(!) in a preseason game, with a bonus filthy shootout move at the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQWobE7T6Vs
It's not like this kid's a nobody either. He played in the World Junior Championships for a stacked Finnish team in 2016 when they won gold so clearly he's shown flashes of potential before. If anyone has watched this kid play please offer some insight on his game, since it seems odd that he's managed to fly under the radar for so long.
Hoping Stan can sign him to an ELC sooner rather than later, since barring some major defensive warts in his game, he seems like the big + mobile defensive prospect we've been missing for what seems like forever. - Spoodles
From some of the reports I read online from people who attend prospects camp in July, Tuulola got some decent reviews. He stood out, not necessarily in a stellar way, but in a positive way by showing good fundamentals and making smart plays. Will he pan out as a potential bottom-6 blueliner? Or will he be the next Lasse Kukkonen?
It would be nice to have Jokiharju, who has gotten great reviews so far, to have a fellow Finn to grow with once he starts playing pro in North America. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see AA back with the third line and Kero centering the 2nd before the night is over. - matt_ahrens
I wouldn't be surprised if only because Q seems to be playing Sharp-Anisimov more in the DZS against higher QOC than he does Kero. Mostly because Kero isn't close to as good as Anisimov. |

I'm curious to see if Q will have Toews' line chasing Matthews' line all night for the matchup. Babcock has last change so there will be some difficulty in getting that matchup every shift, but if Toews matches up against Matthews, that will be fun to watch. - EnzoD
Babcock uses Kadri as a checking line that can score, but it'll be interesting to see if that means Kadri out against Toews or Kane. With Anisimov on the 2nd, Q is probably comfortable with them stacking up against any of the top 3. He'll mostly be concerns with making sure it's 4th vs 4th. |

I like AA. I like him better on the third right now to give DeBrincat some consistency as he adjusts to the NHL. I also like Kane and Hartman with a faster/quicker center, which Kero seems to be more than AA. |

Ryan is looking great! ..I remember some of you wanted jvr a while back..well ryan is younger and cheaper! Good on him to take the opportunity and run with it,can't see him letting coach Q down on his decision! with this season i think Chicago is on a bit of a mission . .cause after last season exit ..they were not happy to say the least! And will have somthing to prove to them selfs, their fans, and the nhl..best of luck moving forward. ..p.s. on a side note! Matthews hero is Toews. .marner is kane!😆 |

HELP...
How do you guys stream games? NHL TV no longer is supported on my ancient Xobox360 so I need another streaming option.
I read that going with a ROKU and then SlingTV would work well, any other ideas here? - Bjm84
Apple TV if you have a mac computer (not that you need it since the two are separate entities

Yeah I just saw that Scott Powers wrote a piece on his development this season. Seems to project as a reliable third-pairing defenseman with upside, at least before this season began. Hoping for the best from this kid tho since Keith isn't getting any younger and we're going to need a new puck-moving defenceman sooner rather than later.
I'm a huge fan of Jokiharju - think he has all the tools to be an effective two-way d-man in the NHL. Kinda reminds me of Jared Spurgeon and Julius Honka with the way he moves as a smallish right-handed shooter |

I don't hate the idea of Kero as a placeholder with Kane because Q is then likely to shelter that line more and Kane is going to draw all the attention anyway. But being quicker does not make a player better - Kero is a 4C at best currently while Anisimov is a solid 2C and excellent 3C. |

And second, some of us always want JVR. |

With the assumptions of high scoring, final score probably be 2-1 tonight |

"19-17 Leafs" ?!
So you're saying that the Hawks' defense and backchecking is somehow worse than Winnipeg's and the Rangers?
Interesting ... not sure that I buy that one. |

More interested in Panik going up against the Matthews line. You know he will want to lay a few big hits and he has the speed to do it. On that Jones hit I think Jones thought he would be able to skate away from Panik. - bhawks2241
Only got to see the Panik hit on highlights because of the goal that resulted from the hit. Listening to the game live at 1:00 pm on Sirius com because I am temporarily five time zones to the west. Expecting the Hawks to come out on top this afternoon! |

LINK for tonight's game? - glennjpawlak22
OK, everyone, bookmark this page - before (usually just) they post multiple options for streaming. I believe the django links tend to be reliable when available, but I'm not sure this year.

Forsling absolutely brutal tonight. Could be 3-1 if not for Forsberg's nice play so far. Hayden and Wingels looking good on that fourth line boys. |
|
|
|
The chemistry with Saad and Toews reminds me of the Sedin twins in their prime, all they do is own the ice |

But it's not, it's 2-0 Hawks. Relax, you say he's brutal tonight like the games almost over, there's still 11 minutes in the first peirod. |

Thanks for the lecture. People post poop as the game is going on. If a guy has a bad (or good) shift someone may mention it. Deal with it. |

Early matchups: Babcock is indeed putting Kadri on Toews (unsuccessfully so far) and Anisimov is getting the heavy assignment of the Matthews line. Anyone who doesn't see that Q trusts Anisimov more than any center not named Toews and thus he's an asset to the team is bonkers.
That leaves Kero with Bozak and 4th liners for 4th liners. |
