>#1 PK man needs to win draws
>Kero looked slow in camp, doesn't look as good as he did in his early games last year
>Think Kampf may be a better player already, looks to have more playmaking ability, but we'll see how he does in Rockford and at the dot
>I like Kero, but I want to see him improve, not tread water
>Not sure I see any part of Kero's game that is better than his early games last year: he had jump, feistyness, won battles, and was on the right side of the puck - SnapitUpstairs
Well I guess agree to disagree on how he has looked, but the Hawks put him on the roster based on how he played in camp. He looked fine to me. He has more responsibility on his shoulders this season and hasn't really looked out of place. Sure, on average he probably have won 2 or 3 of those Dzone draws, but that whole aspect is just a mess right now until they figure out these arbitrary faceoff rules.
I could be way out to lunch, but I don't think Kero has done anything that deserves demotion at this point. The Hawks played about 35 minutes of bad hockey and that wasn't on Kero. I doubt they will see much better anyone in Rockford at this point. Seems early to make a switch IMO. |

Penguins not admissible, too many people on this site would complain about Crosby being a serial slasher. |

Defensively, I won't argue... I've complained
but anyone arguing against Crosby and Malkin " playing exciting, wide open, high skill hockey" is blind. |

2) Faceoffs are still a big issue for this team
As a team, the Hawks were dominated in the dot by Toronto, and their best faceoff man, Jonathan Toews, was repeatedly thrown out of faceoffs for violating the newly enforced setup rule.
Last night anyway, Tanner Kero, the "replacement for Marcus Kruger," played over 4 minutes on the penalty kill and was 37% overall on faceoffs.
Anyone who thinks the the return of Nick Schmaltz (because he went 20-21 in the preseason on draws and that's "awesome!") will solve this problem, I have a bridge you might be interested in purchasing.
Duchene - mrpaulish
YUP...
I think this team is going to be fun to watch...but not without some pains. The Leafs looked really good last night and Forsberg played a great game. Hawks looked like hot garbage in the OT...
Can't put AA up as 2nd center - that line got by against the Jackets - but not last night. And while faceoffs are a huge concern. Schmaltz's speed is what they missed terribly last night.
Defense is young and needs time - forwards didn't help out last night. The PP continues to be a disaster...several have mentioned, but don't forget the one timer from Panarin - I mean Sharp from the left circle.
We'll see how they do against Shawsie and the Habs tonight.

You're going to have to give up more than what you sold him for. He's fit in really well.
Nordstrom - Kruger - McGinn gave teams fits in the preseason and they did it again against Minnesota on Saturday. Nobody with great hands but they're all solid defensively and fast/gritty enough to be a pain in the ass. - BINGO!
Figured he would, he's a damn smart hockey player and thought his skill set was needed in CAR.
Also, he and Nordstrom have chemistry from CHI (+ I think Kruger's dad was his coach).
Love Young Marcus... glad to see him doing well with you guys. |

The only thing Kero has had more responsibility on is the PK. Otherwise, he's been facing the lowest competition and is an energy 4C. Maybe if he had better linemates it'd be different - Q does not seem to want Bouma or Wingels to face anyone of quality. |

Having him around takes a ton off of J.Staal's plate. Miles ahead of where we were with McClement last year. Really happy to have him. |

Solid - maybe; but Frederick Anderson has never proven to be a goaltender who can take a team the distance in the playoffs, not in the top 15 of NHL'ers IMO. And injury prone. If I was the Leafs I would give up some of their very good farm depth for MA Fleury, that would make the Leafs extremely dangerous.
Cody Franson for Zach Hyman.
Hyman has hands of stone but he's an animal on the forecheck for Mathews. And although very good, eventually Nylander and Marner are going to get hammered, they aren't in #88's league yet. - RickJ

Hawks are a good October club for sure. Hurts to give up a point like that, up 2 with less than 10 minutes to go. Ouch. |

I'd like to see Kampf get a shot with the big club. He was impressive in the Preseason and played with Saad and Panik for a game. Good speed, responsible player and can win some draws. |

I think Wingels can be an effective checker. Good skater, tenacious and physical. Bouma is simply not smart/quick enough to defend against highly skilled forwards. I'd like to see him fight someone, isnt that the only reason he's on the ice anyway?? |

If the team is moving to a speed game, Hayden-Kero/Kampf-Hino should be the 4th line. I like Wingels enough to get him some ice time. Bouma hasn't done anything besides not be terrible. |

If you see subpar play from him (I didn't observe him enough to know), is it possible that he's still dealing with the injury from the previous game?

I actually do think Wingels has upside. Bouma... not so much. Wingels is just a victim of being paired with him. |
