Keith does get a lot of PP points, and he plays every one. He's missed very little time due to injury, and he's been on the hawks longer. I didn't have stat sheets in front of me. We can't all be smart like you.

Keith has been: viewed as the best option on power play over the years

Keith is not: resembling a power play qb. Does not get shots on net. Should be replaced on pp. Keith I do not really like him even on 2nd unit. But Q can't understand. And no matter who teaches the power play, they seem to do the same old. Team's challenging us, not afraid of us.

It is only going to get worse. Whether it all heeps up right away, or the team manages to play .500 but get consistently outplayed

What I notice about Kane on the powerplay now compared to previously, he hasn't been walking off the halfboards and taking shots nearly as much. He has a grand total of 2 PP shots on goal this year and often we'd see him get 2 on net in one 2 minute penalty. I know from watching that teams are blocking or tipping a lot of passes over to Kane. When he does have the puck he has been doing a lot of those interchanges with Keith.

Man, don't feel dumb - I'm just cranky cause I'm sick and I felt like that was common knowledge. And tbf I was slightly wrong - Kane was not the PPP/GP leader one year, in 2011-12. I try to block out that year mostly.

The first unit needs to give the other team another player to focus on beyond Kane. Toews and he used to cycle down low so well idk why they don't try that more.

Saad or Panik in front of the net, Toews-Kane cycling with Seabrook on the point. The hard part is that the first PK units often are the more aggressive so teams like to have their best defender on there, hence Keith.

...the occasional clean zone entry would be nice...and perhaps an accurate pass with some mustard on it.

Well, in the last few seasons Kane has been shooting more and it was paying off. He was #1 for the Hawks in PP shots in the last two seasons. Kane has been getting his typical PP minutes per game. The other thing is Sharp getting time over Seabrook and Seabrook has 0 shots on goal. Sharp hasn't exactly been great on the Powerplay either in getting that time instead of Seabrook on the first unit.

So do you feel Keith should be on the pp?

I don't know if I like Keith and Kane together anymore, no. The problem is that coaches typically like to have their best defender on the 1st unit because the PKers they face are typically the one most likely to be able to score a SHG. Seabrook is more useful imo as a point / shot man. I'd mix up the forward personnel a bit more - Saad/Panik in front of the net so Kane could cycle with Toews down low like they used to be prone to do before Panarin came around.

I guess we'll get to see how DeBrincat deals with physical play tonight. He's taken some hits.

You know what I think it is, the Preds are better at making the puck do the work. I.e. they are moving the puck much faster and forcing the Hawks to chase them more.
