I think it doesn't help that the Hawks lost some of their good backcheckers in Hossa/Kruger and Schmaltz underrated a bit in that dept IMO too.

The next goal in this game will decide it, for another few days at least.

Nobody mentioning that 19 is terrible again tonight. Thank God he's got 20 to carry him. I haven't seen him win a FO yet. This team has a bigger issue than finding another dman, they're weak up the middle AGAIN !! Stan better not wait too long to address it or it will be too late.

Would Franson and Seabs be considered slow too by AHL standard. Is Seabs really lost a lot in skating? He is not that old. Though certainly some wear and tear and mileage.

For one who values stats, I find it hard to believe that you do not see the TREND of SOG against increasing, and approaching 40 per game. That means the team defense is terrible, and getting worse.

Ask CC how he feels about that.....

Add an impotent power play and too little nasty up front and its no mystery why getting back to the dance is seemingly more and more difficult.

That was smart hockey. Toews could have stayed on the ice, he wasn't gased, but he was right to get fresh legs out there. Much more like the typical OT we've seen from this team in the past.

Actually, Crawford is on record as saying that he prefers to be active and does not like his d-men blocking too much.

And as someone who values stats, I know what small sample means. I keep saying it's not until game 20 that you actually see trends. It's just statistically less relevant before then. More games will mean SOG evening out to go lower, as it does every year. The highest a team has been in modern era in like 35 and those are the Colorados of the last few years. I'm not saying the Hawks shouldn't be trying to shot suppress more but I'm not going to worry about it this early.
