That’s the outcome when you play for less than 10mins of a 60min game. |

4-0 with 10 minutes in the game and the Hawks decide to start throwing pucks on net with traffic....after playing patty-Cake on the perimeter for 50 minutes
Ugly game and Forsberg in net tm? Intrigued to see Hawks vs a desperate Oilers team and especially Hawks D vs McDavid |

Oilers are due, which could be bad news for the Hawks. Edmonton has done everything but actually bury their chances so far. |

Nah. He has always had his moments but this has pretty much always been his game. 2-way play, driving possession and scoring his goals near the net. The decline of Toews is fake news. - breadbag
Go watch some of his highlight goals off the rush. When was the last time Toews put a power move on someone and scored with speed and power? I can't remember. If it happens it's very very rare the last few years. If he's the same guy he always has been then there are a lot of centers that have passed him by. |

I don't believe the problems this team has is coaching--related. At least coaching isn't the primary issue.
Players getting older and lack of younger faster skilled players--is the main problem.
Anyone who thinks--as constituted--this is a Cup final team is fooling themselves. The problems Nashville exposed are still there. - tompo1015
When you get dealt a hand you play that hand, not make the same bets or bids every time without regard. And you certainly don't keep playing the hand the same way when everyone else knows what you're holding. |

Hartman was pushed into him
And why wasn't their a penalty called for Hartman getting thrown down after the goal - BetweenTheDots
And more importantly. ..where are all the teammates to come to his aid.....same ol Hawks, No pushback.....Hartman gets rag dolled and thrown down to the ice and nobody backs him up ?????? |

Yeah, there are some highlights, but that was never what you saw from him most nights. |

They were hoping for a penalty, trying to win the game, not getting a matching roughing penalty
As it turned out, they should have gone after him I guess

Last 10 minutes was just river hockey while the Blues were playing up 4. There is no way to sugarcoat sh$t and make it taste good. Apart from #50, the whole team stunk and worse still didn't try very hard either. |

If this is still the way they look after about 20-30 games I think a coaching change will become a legitimate discussion. - SimpleJack
.It just coach Q fails to change his approach and I believe the team is tuning him out .Young players need practice ,not Q favorite past time . He does not have a stacked line-up anymore and needs to spend more time fine tuning this team . Dineen is a players coach and a true student of the game, and hungry something Q may not be anymore .. |

Brian Campbell just confirmed that Q still doesn't go into the locker room after games to debrief. Not sure if he says anything during the period breaks, but the winter classic BTS videos would say no. Feel like that might be beneficial when you're working with a bunch of newbies. |

Troy Murray is not impressed:
John Dietz @johndietzdh 11m11 minutes ago
Troy Murray: "If you're going to grade the performances of any of the Blackhawks, you're going to be giving them an F."
"You can't accept this in any way, shape or form. ... You come in here and you waste an effort. It just wasn't good enough."
"The lack of effort from the veteran players has got to be disturbing to the coaching staff."
That last comment brings to mind some of the post-2016-17 season comments from the FO.

The Bowmans want to make a statement you pick up the phone & make a huge trade.
Only way to get this core turned around.
Just one example here.
WPG:
Byfuglien (back to forward to give 88 more room)
Trouba (good skill set & skater needs a change of teams)
Little (solid center very underrated)
CHI:
Seabrook (enough already)
Toews (home town maybe gets him going but been bad since new contract)
Forslin (wpg gets some youth) |

Kane looks much worse than Toews
Somethings up with Kane. I don't think its physical. I think its mental, he's not all there and I think he's thinking about getting outta town and getting a change of scenery. He's not stupid. He see's the direction this Hawks team is headed, maybe they work out a blockbuster deal before the season ends if the Hawks slip out of the playoff picture. - SimpleJack
Wow. You're a mind reader too. And from afar. |

What I see from Tows is not fake but factual...he is a good player now but not a great player like he was the first 7 years as a Hawk. Your like CNN having a hard time facing reality. |

Can anyone help me understand the Hjalmarsson trade? Personally, I feel we should have gotten more. Connor Murphy looks like nothing special. Laurent Dauphin...seems like he might turn out to be a decent 3rd or 4th liner, but considering the very reasonable contract hammer has and the fact that he was extremely underrated, I just don't get why we couldn't have gotten a better package. - LuckyStrikeW
The fans here need to keep a few things in mind about Hjalmarsson:
1) The player you remember from 2009-2015 was NOT the player you watched in 15-16 or 16-17. 10 hard years of wear and tear and excessive minutes caught up with him.
2) To get a young, big mobile defenseman, and a potential replacement for Kruger in Dauphin was - to be honest - an overpay by Arizona for Hjalmarsson - who looks to be on an early decline.
Look at this deal as trading him a season too early - compared to a season too late.

Guess I picked a good night to completely miss a Hawks game.
Oh well...
Should be interesting seeing how they respond against the Oil. |

You are entitled your opinion and so am I. Toews has been playing like Toews since he recovered from injury. Top 20 in scoring since then, which is pretty typical of him given that he has only finished top 15 in scoring twice in his career (once 12th and 13th).
I can see how many people remember a few highlight plays from early in his career as moments that stand out when wearing rose colored glasses, but he is who is. The Hawks would be in a sorry state without him. Sure, he may never hit his career high again, because of age and the fact that Chicago will never replace Hossa. (not in Toews' career anyway)
Toews is playing like typical Toews right now. The Hawks as a group need to puck up their game, but the #1 line is one of the bright spots.
