Don't forget Toews and Cro. - riozzo
And Schmaltz. Schmaltz is weak, weak I tell ya. Goes into da corners like he's got raw eggs in his pockets. |

As I suspected, Kane self-selected his linemates for the upcoming year. He does have quite a hockey brain, and the two games they had together pre-Schmaltz takedown were electric.

Belfry seems like a great coach - figure out how to fine tune someone like Kane's individual skills each year + able to get best collectively out of multiple players on a line. - pdx2ord

Do you think it says Lancelot on his birth certificate? That would be cool. - hocktock

There is no sport more exciting than hockey! And none worse at creating nicknames for its players. |

There's a naming convention:
To one syllable names, you add an -er
"Tazer," "Kaner," "Saader," "Shawzer"
To 2 syllable names you cut down to the first syllable and an add an "s" AND/OR a "y"
"Hartsy"

Schmaltz doens't fit the mold. 1 syllable, 'y' added at the end. Sometimes there's just outliers. |

I don't know that that unique skill is one Rutta possesses. I think if he did, he would have had maybe better numbers in the Czech league and we'd have seen him getting PP time (maybe a lot of it) in Chicago by now. - John Jaeckel
Sorry John...misled here I guess - I was just referring to Rutta being good so far - wasn't thinking he was our answer to the QB on the PP. I think he's been solid and along with the rest of the 'kids' need to get more playing time/games in. Especially Murphy to see what you're going to get out of him.
Meanwhile interested to see how the Hawks do against the Blues tonight - while its been a fast start a bit of tough sledding against our own division so far. |

Question, spit balling here. Would you trade Anisimov to Montreal for Shaw? Would Montreal do that deal? What would be the positives and negatives of that deal? I know Shaw has a longer deal at less money which would likely be something Bowman might find attractive. Again, just spit balling, so be nice. |

No. Two reasons:
Hawks are already painfully thin at center - especially those with some nasty down low
Shaw's recent public commentary about his challenges with concussions and the impact it has had on his game as he intends to play it going forward suggest he would not be the same fearless sparkplug he was during his tenure with the Hawks.

Ugh, absolutely not. AA as part of a package for Galchenyuk wouldn't be awful. |

Why are we trying to add wingers? Our center depth is already in question and we propose moving Anisimov? Id be willing to trade him, but not for a bottom 6 winger, of which the Hawks have plenty. |

Not sure Galchenyuk can provide the 2-way play. F/O's looked equal (<50%) on their stats. |

With Murph sitting and Franson playing well who knows. You can never have enough quality forwards. I think Galchenyuk needs a change of scenery. |

Salary would work out and unless Murphy is going to play every night, he should be on the trading block IMO. Galchenyuk is HIGHLY skilled with the puck and Patty Kane would be ecstatic to add a talent like that to his line. |
