Bet you don’t like the dipped, soggy Italian beef sandwich, either.... - StLBravesFan
The Au jus adds flavor... I can't improve on that one since it has to be soggy but its not my favorite. The beef is sometimes really dry despite the au jus... |

You can't beat it, scum and all. Any decent place will serve a natural casing dog. Gold Coast grills their's but I'd still rather have a steamed version from Portillo's...Vienna all beef natural casing dog dragged through the garden with Mary Ann's steamed poppy seed bun...like I said can't beat it.
i agree that Maxwell Street Polish are also really good but I can feel my arteries clogging as I eat one, so only in moderation. - HawkintheD
I do love the natural casing... But I love what dry heat and browning does to food much more. |

I think Pequods is very good - but Burt Katz’ Next place - Burt’s Place - was better - both Burt and his place are gone now. It was all in the crust. - StLBravesFan
Sage, when I was a kid, Pequods in MG was a big hangout. Old irascible Burt used to torture us regularly. When he came back with Burt's Place, it was the best of both worlds -- Pequods and Burt's just a couple of blocks from each other! I miss that cranky old coot ....

Piece is full of hipsters and theirs is thinner and cooked with super hot fire - also a micro brewery - in a pretty fun part of town. One of the dudes from Cheap Trick is a part owner. Dave Grohl can usually be found there when the foo fighters are in town. - fattybeef

I go back to Gullivers on Howard in the 60s - excellent (if my memory isn't playing tricks on me) - still open, I think - haven't been there in years.
BTW - best thin crust I've come across is at Baranaby's in Northbrook - crispy corn mean cracker crust, very good toppings (not overly "cheesed"). |

Always been a fan of AA. Guy is work horse, but he really looks a step slower this year. |

My family is traveling to Minnesota next summer (from Kentucky), and I already can't wait for Portillo's! - tvetter
Where at in MN? They put in a Portillos in Woodbury (south east suburb of Minneapolis/St Paul). There's talk of another one going in too.

Haha, I'd either be there or order takeaway just about every week when I had a car and was in the delivery zone. Plus, you can get a growler to go. That west town \ wicker area was great when you could get a decent place for a reasonable rent. Now its either dump or "luxury." Not a whole lot of happy median everyman places there unless you get off the blue line \ 56 bus and go closer to Humboldt Park.
Now that I don't have a car and don't live in the delivery zone and I'd have to take a bus down Damen to get there it is a little more difficult. Great while it lasted though. |

Anyone remember Eduardo's Pizza? I used to get single serving deep dish there way back in the 80's. - conwell
Edwardo's was always my favorite for the deep dish/stuffed pizza. There are still 2 or 3 left in the area, one in Oak Park on North Avenue and I think they may have frozen pies in the supermarkets. |

I love that idea. Bergevin has the cap space too... AA not only looks slower but the effort seems to always be at a 4 or 5 lately. |
|
|
|
Question: How does the cap work if say we trade a guy making 3.0 million a year for a guy making 1.0 million a year....while we are under the Hossa LTIR stuff? Do we gain an additional 2.0 million on the cap...or due to the LTIR we gain nothing? Anyone know how that works? Just curious. |

Yup, includes what might be 2 of the top 5 forwards in the NHL right now. Definitely 2 of the top 10. - SimpleJack
TB looks like the deepest team in hockey this year. That organization can draft. Vinik also knows how to negotiate too. Best owner in the game. |

Last I remember, about a year ago, but I could be wrong is it still going very strong in the Detroit area I think it’s in the suburbs somewhere, I know his Business in the West Loop tanked shortly after he became a Detroit Red Wing, on another note, yes I know we reacquired Brandon Saad. ,But the Montreal love you guys, I don’t think is going to happen, as much as I would like to see a megatrade worked out with the avalanche, that won’t happen either, I got a funny feeling they are just going to roll with what they have and see how it plays out |

Yes, and I believe he opened one or two in Detroit after he left Chicago. I have a snazzy Polaroid with Chelios and the Cup at his old Chicago Chili Bar, they had it there after a game at the UC. I dare not touch it....... |
