I have read those, oddly enough 5 years ago the things that I commented on were accepted academic facts, now the internet has been scrubbed and "fact checked" clean. I say fact checked like that because if you follow the money, 99 percent of the media is controlled by three families, there is no such thing as unbiased news. Even 5 years ago there was.

Confirmation bias is real, tell people what they want to believe and they'll believe it. I only recently changed my mind about gates.

I’m all for open debate of beliefs and opinions but the bolded text is just silly talk. Any sane person knows it’s next to impossible to fully “clean” the internet of a particular subject. You can prosecute people or entities for posting info or images on certain subjects but that too is public knowledge. Wouldn’t take long for people to notice a collective effort to repress factual information.

This “scrubbing” of the internet has been an alt-right talking point for some time now and it’s ridiculous.

Should say.... it's harder to find the articles and there have been counter articles published since then. I'm far from alt right, plus I ended up finding a bunch of links regarding Kenya and unethical practices from the vaccine providers. Hint, they told then they were getting one thing, they got a different vaccine instead.

Not gonna argue though.
I posted my opinion.

How about the rcmp report, damming stuff.

How about the xenophobia creeping into people from the viral fear?

Definitely not saying you are alt right but it’s just an alt right narrative that’s a bit hard to take seriously. The web is a very dark place so to suggest factual info is being erased because of some liberal Illuminati is nuts.

My turn to be a tin foil wearing conspiracist...

Hey Prez, ever hear of the Bohemian Grove? It’s real and it’s scary. If you want to talk about elitists controlling society, talk about them.

Giuliani is one of them.

Yes, creepy. Funny how it was creepy Alex Jones who recorded real video of them acting very cult like.

I sure get tired of this simplistic view that because you belong to an organization or have dinner or drinks with unsavoury individuals you are complicit and automatically judged by social media warriors.

What gives anyone the right to judge someone because they had dinner with someone they may or may not have had knowledge of improper conduct.

What gives anyone the (frank)ing right to call all police officers as bastards because they joined an organization that has some individuals that are terrible people. You put on the uniform so you are now judged as a bastard.

I am really disappointed by this closed minded, linear way of thinking.

hey, people make choices all the time. if you work and put on the uniform, i'm entitled to tell you how i feel about you and your organization.

i don't care you're only 12 years old and crying. you're going to listen to me yell at you about the evil girl scouts. you put on the uniform, you carry their cookie pushing shame. i don't care if your mom made you join. i will not be bullied into silence by big cookie.

the cookie lobby has gone too far and so i have no qualms about judging the uniform.

if they didn't want to get yelled truth at, why did they join the girl scouts?

why did they put on the uniform? put on the uniform, deal with the responsibility.

Bad, all cops are bad, but bastards works as well.

I have friends who are cops, they know the organization is rotten but the tenured officers and supervisors don't want to be responsible for the fall-out from their fellow officers.

The threat of no back up is a huge one.

It's not the individual that is bad, it's the uniform.
The blue lives matter is BS because it's a choice to become a cop. Have you read the report? Google it, it's enlightening and non biased but states clearly that it needs to be rebuilt and audited by an outside organization.

All Nazis are evil, correct. Yes and I agree. However I'm sure that over the course of time there have been decent empathetic non racists who where members but that doesn't matter, they became a nazi, they're evil by association.

People choose to put on that uniform and not become a whistle-blower for whatever reason (backup refusal, lack of advancement, exclusion from social events, etc...) makes them complicit in the crimes of their fellow officers.

Google starlight tours, gross.

Read about the Pickerton investigation, I read the book the lead detective wrote and how corrupt the department was around that.

Google spousal abuse police(4 times higher then amongst civilians) reportedly 40 percent of all police families experience spousal abuse and understand how much worst it must be for their abused spouses to know that they can't go to a shelter or escape.

Watch the multitude of video of RCs acting poorly without accountability and tell me why that behavior is OK?

To be complicit in illegal activities makes you guilty by association, therefore because they all wear a uniform of association it means that ALL COPS ARE BAD.

I do think complicity is shameful though. Why do a “few bad apples” never get called out for their unacceptable behaviour? If it’s not the majority then it should be easy to remove the bad ones and clean it all up. The only time these things get exposed is when a 3rd party investigation is launched.

Justified mistrust in law enforcement is so destructive to our society. Our leaders need to ensure that our forces are held to the highest standards possible. Maybe that’s unrealistic or naive but without trust it’s the first step in society’s breakdown.

Indeed. I do feel bad for the many decent people who serve in these various organizations having to wear the label, as well. The RCMP have long been called out for this and have had many chances to make the necessary changes. Leadership is the issue.

You quoted an acronym that the city of Victoria sanctioned in a mural that stands for “All cops are Bastards”

Next, you have “no cop friends” because that would make you complicit in condoning their way of life and chosen profession.

If you wish to spend your time googling travesties by the police, armed forces, governments, the Uber rich, KKK, BLM, medical industry, Mrs Jones next door, go for it. That’s your gig, but I do not have any intention of wasting my time trying to find what wrongs have been perpetrated against humanity.

Lastly, I spent years conducting joint enforcement patrols with RCMP, City Police, C&P, Conservation Officers, Armed Forces Teams, and 99% of those individuals were solid, caring people.

Yes I witnessed what I would call racism in some cases, and I also witnessed the enforcement officers being barraged by asshats, which I would say was 100 times worse than anything law enforcement have been accused of. And before anyone wants to pull all the bad poop by cops...I STATED “I WITNESSED “

You have your beliefs and are set in your mindset, have at it. But I wholeheartedly disagree and nothing, absolutely nothing will make me side with the social media warriors.

I would love to see a list compiled of everyone that advocates for disbandment, and never receiving law enforcement support in a time of need. Obviously I’m being facetious with that statement because law enforcement will respond to any situation regardless if the person is an asshat or not.

I'm good friends with a three generation policing family and one of the first things I did when the riots started was to call them and have an uncomfortable conversation.

Defunding does not mean disbanding. It means stop throwing more money at a problem and try something different, create social outreach programs, stop the militarization of the beat cops, etc...
Half the times it shouldn't be just the cops responding to certain situations such as welfare checks, they're woefully untrained and unprepared for de-escalating these situations.

The union and tenure protections don't serve the public good when it comes to bad apples in the force.

You can bury your head in the sand and assume all those with alternate view points are left wing wack jobs or you can take a critical look at certain aspects and make up your own mind about it.

Have you read the report? The one that just came out? The independent study that says that the RCMP is a systemically flawed with misogyny and racism.
Does the spousal abuse reports that show 20 to 40 percent of all policing marriages are abusive not concern you?
I would suggest that these facts are all linked and if the police didn't have the burden of being responsible for everything from social worker to active shooters that their stress might be less.

Read the report, it's unbiased even if I and you might be, it might open your eyes a little.

Peace, respect.

Why defund the police? It is a rallying cry to disparage police, why not advocate for special funding to create the special organizations to combat mental health issues that the police are not trained for. I’ll venture it is as I stated and social justice warriors are spin phrasing “defund” the Police.

The medical profession has doctors and nurses that have been prosecuted for inappropriate behaviour against women, there is a committee looking as systemic racism in the profession. Defund the medical profession, maybe get the other SJW and start the campaign.

Couple things and then your point for the win!

The police are there to enforce the law, they should to be held more accountable for respecting the law then civilians. That's what's different between them and say the medical profession

Why defund? We can call it other things, like reallocate funds, etc...

Because police budgets are the size that they are because they are currently responsible for many things not directly related to safety issues. Like mental health, heck as an EMR we'd have to wait for the RCMP to show up if it was a drug call, a social worker would have be more appropriate(magic mushrooms).

Right now the RCMP is funded to deal with mental health issues, take that responsibility and funding away from the police and like you suggest, set up a special organization to deal with it.

Lol, now that I think about it, you've just suggested a viable and reasonable way to defund the police and set up an alternative system. Good job, high five!

the city didn't sanction it. it was never in the proposal that the city accepted. the artist snuck it in without authorization (cowardly thing to do.)

the city had the artist change it.
