I was going to stay out of it but Karen has been poking a bit too much, screw him. If the ref's don't like it, too bad. He's a redneck POS.

Now this is heavy and delicate stuff and I have to be careful what I post. I have very strong views on this and I don’t want to piss anyone off.

Saying that, I’ve said it to anyone who will listen... I’ve always thought that residential schools and reservations were tools of genocide. I can’t believe that we haven’t addressed this yet and it’s 2021. We as a country ignore the issue and just throw money at it and hope it just all goes away because it kills the narrative that Canada is a socially advanced, compassionate nation.

The 70s would have been a perfect time to address but elected governments don’t want to touch the issues. So we continue with the same inadequate system that continues to destroy most First Nation communities. Only the bands that benefit from geography demonstrate success.

Sorry, got to slow down...

- bloatedmosquito

More people need to speak up, not slow down. If you piss off a few people, because you are passionate about how wrong something like this is, then so be it.
Anyone thinking that this is acceptable behavior, treating the original inhabitatants of this land, in this fashion, has some serious issues.
Genocide is just wrong and this will leave a scar on the country and the Catholic church for a long long time, as it should, this is beyond pathetic.
Many survivors, their families and the children that moved into hiding during the "taking away from families", are still very much scarred and hurt to this day, as are the off-spring who get told of the stories of how they were victimized, by society. It is not a nice story to listen to.
I have had many opportunities to discuss these horror stories with several victims and their families, including my father-in-law, who was fortunate enough to be taken by his Grammar to a hideaway, when he was very young and spent his childhood in seclusion, with only a handful of others.
It is no wonder why even today, many 1st Nations are timid about being involved in inclusiveness, as we have failed these fellow human beings many, many times over.
Unfortunately, First Nations people are still treated unfairly in many ways, which is an absolute travesty.

Parties ramping up for a potential fall election.
Polls not looking very good for O'Toole.

Why the Conservative party can’t find a decent leader is beyond me. JT wouldn’t have a chance against anyone half decent. But just look at the state of the other three parties.

The funny thing is, the smartest leader of the bunch, Singh, is way ahead of all the leaders in polls amongst 30 and under voters.

Also, no fan of Trudeau, but definitely not a fan of conservative principals.

This upsets me because I was a Joe Clark conservative; meaning a fiscal conservative. Low taxes, small government, strong international presence, and leave the rest alone to let Canadians decide how they would like their society to evolve.

This social conservative movement is regression in my mind and TBH a bit scary.

I agree, the conservatives of yesteryear, are nothing like the CRAP of today.

One guy goes on a rage-quit sabbatical for a stretch and things calm down a bit. He comes back and it starts to spiral.

I wonder if there's a connection?

Lets fucking hope so

That guy is such a twat. Continues to talk poop without actually engaging or talking to the actual situation. Threads were much less hate-filled with him off them

As much poop as Lordy gives and takes, at least he'll respond and answer things.

So I just read a PM from a poster that was sent a week ago, I have refrained from reading the post because this poster has more drama associated with them than a weekday soap opera.

So you guys are all trouble makers, that blindly follow one poster here that has more hold over you guys than Kim Jong-un has over North Korea.

Oh and I am also influenced because I know him personally, .

What the (frank) is wrong in people’s lives if their involvement and acceptance on an anonymous hockey blog is their sole purpose of their days, weeks whatever.

Man I sure tire of the poor me victims,

Hope this is ok, I didn’t ask permission of the great influencer.

You should really get some sort of compensation for being a ref on this site

Thankless job, but we're thankful to have you (or so the great influencer tells us, and we gladly accept His word)

Ya, this is sort of background thing for most people I think/hope. Should not be the only outlet for their human interaction and acceptance.

(You can delete this post if you want, since you deleted yours lol)

I like Marwood and all but pretty much the only things he influences in my life are drink recipes, food recipes and wether or not I visit him.

I would cheerfully meet any of the posters in here, for a beer or 2. There are 4 or 5 that I would bolt on and leave them with the bill.

I think it'd be funny to actually meet up with most people... but realistically there's a handful I'd actually grab a drink with.

Pretty sure I've drank around, or have definitely served, Don before. Seem to know similar crowds and frequent the same spots when I was in Van, and I bartended at a very popular spot for a few years
