It's not surprising, actually. I've read a few other articles over time suggesting much the same but not with the same depth & detail, when I was trying to understand populism and it's growth. As Bettmanlovesus has been saying, the signs are there. Tick tock.

Problem is that we have citizens that don’t understand the difference between being Canadian and being American. Saw this a lot in 2020 and 2021 with protests and demonstrations. They were swept up in the whole American liberal vs conservative tug-o-war not realizing that Canada’s political system is very different to that of the US.

You see the naiveté in our threads still. It’s frustrating.
