What? I have no problem with your online persona. I even created an amalgamation of our avatars... BloatedHefty. I'm just debating the socialist/capitalist dogma.

Jesus christ. I even created this page titled... you guessed it... "Socialism vs. Capitalism: a false dichotomy"

Do you even know what "false dichotomy" means? Relax dude.

- bloatedmosquito

I'm not un-relaxed, I'm just offering rebuttals to your personal attacks on me. I'm offering my opinions on both sides of capitalism/socialism without bringing your family or your personal life into the debate. You stated, and I quote, "If you were a true "capitalist" you would have paid for your and your children's education regardless of level.".

Basically your ridiculous comment states that in 1971, at the age of six, when I entered grade one of the BC public school system, I should've paid for my own way into private school...fuck me!!!

Imagine how uneducated a nation be if there was no public school system and only private?

There needs to be a balance and having social services and programs doesn't make you a communist country. Don't get hung up on labels.

Both, but let’s leave everyone’s kids out of the discussion.

What? Personal? I'm just pointing out that saying you are a capitalist is a dumb comment. You're not. None of us are. We believe in a balanced system. And I didn't attack your family.

Public schools (paid by taxes) are one of the pillars of socialism. Accessible health care being the other. My point being that we all have benefitted from socialist programs. Your parents put you in a public school. You put your kids in public schools. Same goes with me and my parents. Same for most in here. I just appreciate what Canada has given me.

Same goes for most of the ignorant MAGA types in the US and Alberta. They claim that socialism is destroying the nation and yet benefit greatly from socialist programs. They take these programs for granted.

Be honest, you say stuff to rile people up. We all know that. Just enjoy the debate.

This is all I'm saying. One of the pillars of capitalism is:

Self-interest, through which people act in pursuit of their own good, without regard for sociopolitical pressure.

That is a fact. So when people say "I'm a Capitalist" I don't believe they really understand what they are claiming.

This is why I think your opinion on capitalism is completely flawed, and out to lunch, if I’m being honest, because it means something different to you than it does to me. You’re broad stroking the term, which is ridiculous. By your way of thinking capitalism cannot exist, again a complete fallacy. They are not mutually exclusive. The richest capitalist people in the world have experienced social programs.

As an almost 60 year old man I can absolutely be a capitalist and still believe in social programs. For me it’s about money, profit and wealth, about risk and reward. It’s about quitting your corporate job after 19 years and starting your own business, about hustling for business and traveling the world to work to make twenty times what you could’ve made in your cushy pensionable job, about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of your own money on another business, with no guarantees you’ll make it, working 18 hour days making it extremely profitable and then selling it for two and a half times what you paid for it.

The definition of capitalism…

“capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profits”

I think it’s you who doesn’t understand the term. For you it’s all or nothing. Which is ridiculous. I know a lot of republicans in the U.S., none of them claim what you wrote above, none of them. They just want some control from the government. You make false ridiculous claims which you cannot prove.

Fair, but your definition is called "free-market capitalism" which leaves out all the sociopolitical stuff. So next time just say that. You will look a whole lot smarter.

Semantics, you’re still an idiot.

You could’ve just said your definitions are based on sociopolitical references, but you didn’t. You’ll look a whole lot smarter if you explain your position. Being a free-market capitalist is still being a capitalist. 🤷🏽‍♂️

And this is why we debate. To clarify our original statements.

Dude…I’m the last person who worries about personal attacks on here. Water off a ducks back. I bring a lot of it on myself because I like to be edgy. But I will never drag your boys or your family into a conversation.

I'm way more levelheaded than you ever realized. It just sounds much different than what corporate media and all the other social forming platforms sound like.

This is more of a political space but this Gaza thing. I knew the Israelis would rage but it has to stop soon right? I can't believe international pressure couldn't get the Oct 7th hostages released and the Israelis to stop the terror.

Now Lebanon, next will be Iran.

I'm starting to notice CNN and other left media going after Harris for lies about Trump and many other claims she's made. CNN multiple times now.

They are paving the way for a shift from their Ukraine proxy war to direct war on Iran. They will throw Harris under the bus for Trump's Israel 1st foreign policy.

CNN described her comments as nothing more than "word salad", she says nothing meaningful without having to be told what to say on a teleprompter.
