i get your approach, i really do...but in a pandemic the actions of those consenting adults could have broader consequences far beyond them when asymptomatic spread is involved...this is what the medical community has been saying for nine months...
i hate staying home most of the time outside of work...I've spent more time in bars either working in them or drinking in them than any other single place in my life...but i've decided to sit this out for the most part (I have and will continue to pound some Crown in a very brief visit to a local tavern, on occasion) - Michael Pachla

And the original post regarding the Overage was to call out the incompetence of the GM at the time in building a case for his dismissal, who
- caused the Overage unnecessarily,
- wasted an asset in a trade for a throwaway player who was very, very expensive for his production ( if you can even call his numbers as "production")
- failed to rationalize the F and D positions
- failed to acquire a suitable player at a position of impact for 2 years
Each one, to varying degrees wasn't a reason to poop can him...or were they insurmountable, cumulatively they were.
Now, it has infact negatively impacted the ability of the current GM...but, sure, this GM could waste another asset in order to make a much needed move. Does it hold him back, no...but is piss poor asset management at the very least.
Add on to that the $800k overpayment to Girgs, probably an additional $400k minimum overpayment for what Tage has earned so far...
Once again, each one independent...not a big deal...stack them upon each other and it is at the very least a limiting factor. - IonSabres
When Botterill announced that Frolik move, he was so proud of himself, like a cat who brings a dead mouse into the house and leaves it on your pillow. "I brought you this dead mouse, isn't it great?" A year later we got rid of the dead mouse but we're not allowed to wash the pillow for another year. Sure, you could just flip the pillow over but wouldn't you rather not sleep on a dead mouse pillow? |

The point is that it would be easier to do it with extra money. Cap space is currency - jcragcrumple
it would also be easier if we had 3 RD instead of 4 |

Could the Sabres put Okposo on the taxi squad, he would get his money but wouldn't count against the cap. - Buff36
He’d still have around a $5mil cap hit count against us from him
Players can’t just get “buried” on the taxi squad to get rid of all their cap hits
It’s basically the same as sending them to the minors |

It still would be very easy if they were motivated to get a goalie and another team was motivated to trade a goalie
They aren’t. They think they’re fine. They’re wrong.
They made over a dozen trades/UFA/RFA moves this offseason and brought in one AHL goalie for expansion purposes
The 1.5 mil overage had absolutely nothing to do with any decision to move off of Ullmark/Hutton as a tandem |

Exactly... Like America's elections the Covid numbers are rigged and fudged. Politics and money have no place in keeping America healthy...

Read that too...Tampa is going to shelve Kuch to become compliant, RME.
IMO that is a real stretch, I suppose anything is possible, and if he needs hip surgery, I wouldn't exactly call that convenient.
Rumors are they are trading with Wings to acquire Zetterburg's LTIR contract, and ship out probably one other contract like Johnson's....there is $11m. - IonSabres
I thought i heard the problem in Tampa is that none of their guys will waive
Not that i blame them- i wouldn’t wanna go from the Lightning to the Wings either |

if they had hutton on IR when he was injured, probably would have covered a good chunk of the overage

My original point is that if Buffalo wanted to upgrade at goaltender, $1.5 million in overages isn't what would prevent that, not for someone that has average competence. - buffalofan19
Dumping Hutton is what’s preventing us from upgrading the goalie spot |

We're going in circles. Having extra cap space would make it easier to upgrade the roster. Ill leave it there |

Well you're sort of blaming the decision to keep the goalies on the overage by saying it would be easier to upgrade the position.
They made a ton of moves before getting tight to the cap It wasn't a prioiity |

AFAIK, there are no and never have been any countries that could be considered to be truly communist. 4 right now exist as a proto-communism or socialist economy - China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam.
We are already seeing the limits of capitalism and the beginning stages of it's death throes, with these stimulus packages and unemployment benefits. Giving with one hand, taking with the other. The global pandemic shifted things drastically. If we recover, so does capitalism, if it gets worse, oh boy....
The Nazis democratically elected Hitler, BTW.
America will never become communist because the working-class will never rise up against the middle and upper classes - The definition of communism requires a violent working-class revolution, taking back the means of production and land to evenly distribute it among everyone equally.
Leave alone the fact everyone in America thinks they're middle-class to begin with and the fact that the working-class worships the upper-class and elites. They are the very definition of the house-negroes they so romantically think they would have owned in colonial times. That most Americans identify with the slave-owners and think they would have been one back in the day says all you need to know. - 3rd GM's the charm
Holy cow - you are tiring and unimaginative.
