I honestly didn’t expect USA to be any good this year. I’m holding off watching them.
Just team Canada with cozens and Quinn |

Ya, I want to see the Sabres prospects in action primarily.
It sucks that Dach's injury now looks like It negatively impacts Cozens and Quinn...I was looking forward to watching that line perform.
Good article about Johnson and his partner Faber from BC on Team USA as partners paired together.
Peterka doesn't look out of place from just the highlights I saw...but that was but a mere glimpse.
Go future Sabres! |

Yeah due to Christmas.... I couldn’t watch any of the games. I should be able to watch Canada tonight.

I don’t even know if it’s a bold prediction anymore but I think Peterka will be better than Quinn.
JJ looked every bit as good as Stutzle did last night.
He was great at least years WJC and has gotten off to a great start this year in the Austrian league |

I only caught bits and pieces of the U.S game last night but from what I read from the Sabres contingent on Twitter is that Ryan Johnson looked good last night in limited minutes.
I liked what I saw from him in the U.S pre-tournament game against Finland.
I’m hoping his minutes increase throughout the tournament.
I can’t say I was a happy we took Johnson over the forwards that were available that year but he’s turning some eyes with his performance at the University of Minnesota and so far at the WJC.
He gives me Jordan Leopold type vibes |

A LD2 is actually a huge need for this team especially after this year when McCabe is gone.

I'll take it.
LhD will shortly be an area of young strength with Dahlin, Johnson, Brycin and Samuelsson in the fold, and McCabe able to hold down 2nd or 3rd pairings until those guys start to come of age.
At RhD they have five 2nd & 3rd pairing guys with Risto, Montour, Joker, Miller and Borgen in house...but still don't have Dahlin's long-term partner...unless Joker takes a major step up. Miller would probably be his best short-term partner for this season anyway.

Johnson wasn't that noticeable last night? I pretty much watched most of the game.
Now he's a top 4 defenseman?
What did I miss? Based on last nights game? |

I didn’t say he was a top 4 D, did I, what did I miss?
I said that’s a need of the Sabres after this season, so drafting him will hopefully work out |

I misread the post, thought you were agreeing with Johnson's play.
Personally an average fan like me didnt see anything redeeming yesterday during the game. He was barely noticable. Of course I watched it on tv not live.
Sabres have some solid defenseman, if you like risto as the 2nd line, pk guy? |

Depends on what you are looking for as a benchmark for top 4.
Johnsson is projected as a defensively responsible Dman with a good transition game to start the play going the other way...limited offensive production.
He is sort of the opposite of Risto, more like Joker.
If you want flash and dance, not him. |

I honestly watched a few minutes of the game last night.
I was just posting what I had read on Twitter.
He only played 14 minutes last night so that’s possibly why he wasn’t noticeable ? He hardly played.
Kris baker posted a a nice sequence that he had in the o-zone.
He’s not going to be somebody that wows you offensively but he makes the little plays in the d-zone that springs the transition game that we can definitely use in Buffalo.
Eichel and Hall are deadly on the transition and I think Johnson and Joker could be players that play a huge role in getting the puck on to their sticks. |

2 keys to improving the PK...
Sit Risto and Girgensons.
the end. |

If Dahlin ends up being as good as we think,
putting a “2nd pair” type with him will be just fine |

Your goaltender is your “best penalty killer”
OR the worst in our case
Goaltending upgrade is imperative |
