Done! Send the fax. - IonSabres
That + could include a lot more than we have to give up. I'm talking Reinhart, Quinn, 2021 1st, 2022 1st and maybe even Ristolainen. Dude is 22 years old, a power-forward center who's never missed a game in 3 years and he's good enough to be a 1C, yet would be our 2C only because of Eichel.
Columbus can't fit Reinhart and Ristolainen under their cap, so it would have to be an enormous trade from both sides.
We have almost zero chance of getting him.
Dubois, Foligno, Dubinsky
-for-
Reinhart, Ristolainen, Quinn, 2021 1st, 2022 1st and still might have to add
And that's with Dubinsky and Foligno expiring after this season, so Columbus really isn't strapped down to them, but they would be salary dumps coming back to us, then you have to SIGN PLD, who's going to get at least Reinhart's money and this is now with 15 million tied up in Okposo, Dubinsky and Foligno.
We have no chance of getting Dubois. None. |

Soooooo, if Larsson can grow into it...
I thought it was determined that Lazar can't.
Much to do about relatively nothing.... IMO, of course
In any event, it is what it is...I really don't want to go further either...I just hope to enjoy more exciting hockey...and I have very low expectations as far as results in the standings...so I'll take losing 5 - 4 rather than 2-1 - IonSabres
So we should assume he will?
I honestly don't care that he's gone. It's (frank)ing fine for god sakes.
But the Sabres will absolutely give up a lot more goals if they give his responsibilities to Eakin.

Throw in Eakin, don't need him anymore.

We've upgraded at 2C AND 1LW and people are complaining that we lost (frank)ing Larry off a perennially bottom 5 team?
These people deserve a bottom 5 team. |

Are the chances any better now?
Two year, $10M for Dubois. The deal is done. #CBJ
$3.5 million this year, $6.5 million next season
As for the trade request, let’s see where this goes …

I don't think they are, well unless Cozens starts at 3C right away, and then there is a chance Eakin ends up on L3 anyway. I am looking forward to seeing Lazar grow into that role, he proved he isn't dog poop and brings some good attributes in speed, tenacity to build on in that role along with improved offensive and FO win % ..but we'll see. |

Amazing enough a great shut down line can still be scored on by the best offensive player in the league.
I’ll be damned
If I wanted to be a fan of a team that scored a bunch of goals and didn’t win crap because defence doesn’t matter I’d just root for the Leafs
Watch them win a few playoff rounds this year though and be due to “experience” and “culture” but not because they signed a top end transitional defender in TJ Brodie who can actually play defence. - Pegullaville

I'd be really surprised if cozens doesnt get first shot at eichels right wing. (After he arrives late at camp)
Skinner and hall may flip flop the left side.
Probably flip flop sam and cozens thru out the season.
Olo is gonna flip flop too IMO. Join in the rw1 fun.
If sam could drive line 3 from the rw3 position. That would be some good hockey.
We have some serious talent finally, instead of flip flopping Larry's, these guys have names.
Hall eich cozens
Skimmer eich cozens
Skimmer stahl sam
Olo center 3 sam
* gurgs- 3C - sam 🤔
** gurgs -sam - olo on line 3 🤔🤔🤔 |

I mean if Eakin wasn’t terrible I wouldn’t care but yes we did downgrade in the bottom 6 despite overpaying everyone.
I’m not complaining at all about adding Hall or Staal I thought they were great additions.
We should be more entertaining no doubt. Playoff team depends now on Ullmark being much better this year to make up for us taking a step back defensively. |

Again...good teams do not need shut down lines. They don't need Larrys. They don't need a player like Larsson to play 14 minutes a night, because they are good. They need high octane 4th liners who can play 7-8 minutes a night, hopefully tilt the ice, play physical and chip in and Larsson is not that. Bad teams need shut down lines to try to slow down good team's top lines. "Rope-a-dope" hockey if you will. If we are ever going to be good we do not need Larsson. He's a perfect fit for Arizona though. I can't believe this is even an argument. |

But Lockport Larry is elite! He shutdown Mcdavid for 19 seconds
Depth players are a dime a dozen. They are like running backs in the nfl. Each to find.

So you are saying 5hat Shot Suppersion doesn't automatically result in shuting down goals.
I agree...it's a method, not a guarantee.
And, to date I have see zero evidence that Log actually stopped actual goals.
They suppressed shots and lowered XGA...Where is the presentation of actual goals being shut down?
I get the relationship, but not the steadfast claim as FACT that they shut down goals...
Else, similarily with their relatively high XGF and low actual goals they would all be 30 G scorers...yet they barely hit 30 combined - IonSabres
Of course not, but:
1- tough to score without shooting
2- goes to show how great the LOG line was at flipping the ice
To have shot suppression stats like that when you’re almost always starting in your own zone is fantastic
No one is saying the line was good offensively
We saying there’s VALUE in their really good defensive play

I guarantee you he goes to Montreal or New York if he really does get traded. But he is 100% not coming to Buffalo. |

You’re right, they don’t.
They need good goaltending and competent defense though if the forwards are incapable of shutting down other teams
We have neither.
We have a fun top 6. And a great 20 year old D man.
This team moved about a foot towards becoming a contender when they needed to move a mile |

Lol good lord. Who the Frank cares.
Larry has had what 6,7, or 8 years with the Sabres. His time is done and over with. He had his chance.
Stop crying about him. We will be fine without him
This is the problem with chad D and his heat lamps. They aren’t the end all be all
Stop taking it as gospel. |

Sure, when they stop being bang on correct about the Sabres I will.
How many years in a row are we going to ignore the models that project us as a bottom tier team, when we always finish as a bottom tier team?
P.S - were projected to be a bottom tier team again.
But hey man, Eric Staal is a fun name and maybe 37 year old Ristolainen finally figures out how to play defense this year |
