Eichel is day to day. That is fine.
Ullmark not getting here in a timely fashion is unacceptable.
You have 9 months to get back and all that taken care of. |

This has likely already been shared, but after reading, it's clear the Sabres like Quinn due to his untapped potential and his off ice qualities (desire, effort, chip on his shoulder).
The 2 most interesting parts of the article for me are below.
From Pat Malloy, an Ottawa area development coach who works with Quinn:
I really believe that skating is something that has to be a driver for your play. You have to learn to skate the game. Most skating coaches focus on edging and I’m a believer that we have to push things that drive a performance needle in a game. So everything we do is to posturally stand fast to be fast and recognizes that the game is a series of eight to 12 foot races and it doesn’t have to always be fluid over 200 feet,” Malloy said. “If your skating isn’t buying you time, it’s costing you time. With him, he’s a diligent worker who has great anticipation, but the time that you save is the time you earn to make plays that you’re trying to make between the ears. He has soaked that up.
On the position Quinn plays (LW):
That versatility is something Quinn, a right-handed winger who plays left wing in Ottawa, prides himself on.
“For a tournament like this, if you’re able to play both sides, it gives you a better chance to fit into the lineup somewhere, so I think it’s definitely an advantage,” Quinn said. “I like the left side because I can cut to the middle and I can see the ice better having the puck on the inside when I’m coming down the wing. I think I’m just a little more dangerous being able to cut to the middle and make plays with my linemates that way. Getting to the middle of the ice is a big reason for the success I’ve had and playing on the left side, I think I can do that a lot easier against defenders.”

After reading this, they didn't draft him from a position (RW) of need. They drafted him because they like his character and potential. |

it was a good read, and considering hockey became his singular focus only just ~18+months ago, his rather quick assertion up the development curve speaks to that dedication, unrelenting will to win!
Kevin Krueger's formula for success is beginning to look alot like McBean's...building a roster of skilled guys who have superior drive to be the best versions of themselves. That combination of Skill and Determination , IMO, us what will eventually separate the Sabres from the also-rans they have been in the past. And like the Bill's, it will take a couple years before they can transition the vast majority of their roster to embrace that...

I didn't necessarily get the bolded above out of the article, especially when they said Malloy had a long history of working with Quinn, unless they consider 18 months as long. |

Drafted hard workers, who are good 200ft players with Quinn and Peterka, and Cozens is pretty solid too. Sabres have some nice pieces about to come through the system. |

Same thought I had.
No need to come back 2 months ago...but planning for potential KNOWN delays should have been the first and foremost consideration. The ~15of January was a pretty safe bet for the league to start...provide for 20 days of training camp and 14 days of quarantine...should have been here around Dec 10th roughly right.
Thankfully it was just 1 player |

I believe Cozens is the best all around player of the three of them. |

Good article 👍
Biggest 1 or 2 spot reach in the history of the nhl.
Krueger / Adam's should have been fired on the spot.
🤔
So what if he turns out to be Ovechkin, we should have moved down ......
Happy 2021 |

You are right, it wasn't in that article, but another closer to the draft. Not sure where I read it..Vogle? Pronman? Wheeler? Probably one of those guys.
Yes, he had practiced on hockey, but previously in between playing more traditional summer sports in the summer. The offseason before his breakout season, he focused exclusively on training for hockey. |

I love the upside quinn brings. As "prospects" go, the quinn pick has tons of fun potential as a fan.
Kids develop at different stages, but being physically athletic/ multiple sport kids have room to grow.
The hockey coaching formula I remember, had kids playing soccer/ other sports and taking time away from the rink to develop other skills and athleticism.
Not Just hockey all year...... |

True it’s one player but it’s also our starting goalie
Hasek would’ve been stretching his groins at the arena for Atleast a few weeks before hand (sarcasm) |

Here is one of the articles I was referring to...
https://theathletic.com/2...-threat-on-the-right-side/
From it:
Growing up, Quinn never worked out during his summers in rural Ontario, either. He didn’t have a personal trainer or get on the ice every day. Instead, he spent his summers playing competitive golf. During the season, his attention was also usually split between hockey and other high school sports.
“I never worked out or anything,” he said, bluntly. “I never trained until my 15 or 16-year-old year.”
It’s around that time that he was introduced to Tony Greco, an Ottawa Valley trainer with a group of junior and pro hockey clients that includes Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux
Started Training around summer 2016?
Somewhere else I read he then focused exclusively on hockey the offseason before his breakout year...which would have been 2019. Can't find it though. |

I don’t understand the hype to bring in a goalie like Kuemper when the price is out of reach. Don’t buy what you can’t afford. Losing prospects or draft picks at this point would be crushing to the organization. Some believe the Yotes need or want to move him but IMO if it happens it won’t be cheap and definitely not worth acting on at this point.
Ullmark is and was their man all along and he has the tools to be a pretty good number one. Can’t blame him for being out right now as the rules for isolating were changing daily. |
