And the butthurt about Allen over Rosen in 18. Delicious.
It was times like that, that I've learned to give the kid a (frank)ing chance.
I wonder what the Allen vs Rosen "NFL Star Potential" chart looked like. |

If you needed proof the NHL really is changing, here it is: Per league release -- Discover, Honda, MassMutual and Scotiabank will be the names of the Divisions "for 2020-21 NHL Season"

If its simply to get through this season then whatever I guess
I never want to see the NHL go all europe on us. Its bad enough seeing ads digitally placed on the glass |

They lost a ton of money last year and are going to lose a ton this year as well
I don't think many people realize how bad the league is in financially outside of like 6 teams |

It means little in the end. I can rattle off 20 players who crushed the world juniors, and half of them are nobodies.
I can name 20 more players who were pedestrian, and half of them are stars.
It's fair to put stock into the juniors. I'm as excited as anyone that JJ and Dylan killed it. I'm also saying, it doesn't mean Richard until they do it in the NHL.
Cody Hodgson and Jordan Eberle. Two of the game's elite of the elite. - TheSabresTaco

Let me guess: Scotiabank is going to be the Central Division.
(Yes, I know it will be the Canadian Division).

Not actual development comparison.
It's the 'give him a (frank)ing chance' comparison. And it's absolutely reasonable.

If I had to guess:
MassMutual - Eastern Division (Boston)
Honda - Western Division (Anaheim)
Scotiabank - Canadian Division (Canada)
Discover - Central Division (process of elimination - but I guess their headquarters are in suburban Chicago).

Take it easy Fitz. There's a lot of nonsense here, so I'm not going to hash through it.
I made my statements on the juniors and I stand by them. Believing in a kid doesn't make me a (frank)ing homer. Especially when I never inferred that the guy they could have drafted will somehow be bad.
Josh Allen and Josh Rosen is a case study to prove that we don't know (frank)ing Richard, and that bemoaning a draft pick is a complete and utter waste of time.

Alright, that’s fair.
Dylan Cozens being top 5 all time in scoring for Canada means nothing
JJ Peterka looking excellent means nothing
Jack Quinn having 5 (frank)ing shots on goal in 6 games means nothing
As long as we’re consistent

I get it fully. I hope its temporary
I also see how slippery a slope it could be when fans are back but hesitant to go or unable to afford it. If they are willing to sell the names of the divisions of the sport, I dont see anything else being off the table
Fast forward a few years and we could be europe. Its ugly and distracting. Its one of the few purities I think major sports in america has tried to protect by keeping advertising off jerseys and for the most part the field/rink/court |

That's my thing about ads. If they don't look intrusive, then I don't mind them. Ads on the boards in hockey rinks are barely noticeable, or at least we are just used to them. The Chipotle ads on Team USA's helmets and shoulder patches are a little worse, but I find myself noticing for the first few minutes and then forget about them. If ads are similar to soccer uniforms, where they simply just look part of the jersey, then the NHL will be fine. If it goes all Euro hockey league, where they try to patch on as many ads as possibly, regardless of color scheme, it will be a mess.

I believe in consistency and not being hypocritical, we see it every day here. Except I didn't say they don't mean anything. Being excellent in the juniors means you were excellent in the juniors and are able to dominate your peers. What it also means is that it that it means "little", the word I specifically used, when projecting your NHL career. Players who are great in the juniors certainly have a higher percentage chance to be at least good NHL players. But there's also players who kill it and suck, and players who suck and then kill it. So saying Casey Mittelstadt will be great, or Jack Quinn will suck, because of one tournament, is an exceptionally flawed line of thinking.

At the same time, though, soccer doesn't look as bad as, say, the European hockey leagues. At least they make some effort in making the ad look like it's part of the uniform rather than just an ugly add-on.

I couldn't agree more. That's still not the point I'm trying to make. It's us, the fans, saying believing, knowing, Rosen was the right pick, and not letting either develop before casting each of them. |

Getting used to them plus time could equal euro hockey. If their reluctance to put ads on jerseys is a tell, I doubt it would ever be sloppy if it came to it but
I never want to see a single ad on a hockey jersey. Ever |

Right, except no one said this, so if this is your overall point I don't know who you're responding to.
As of now, based on who was on the board, Quinn was a reach over Lundell or Rossi, or even Perfetti.
With the exception of Rossi being on a high school team and by himself and being unfair to judge, both Lundell and Perfetti have been better, Lundell by a a lot.
And Quinn isn't really that young. He's 19 years old.
It's dissapointing that he very well could go an entire 7 game tournament without a single goal on an opposing goalie when we drafted him to be a goal scorer.
If you don't see any red flags yet, more power to you
