As would I.

However his $3M cap hit may be tough to absorb

- Pegullaville

Zegmus = 2.2m + his replacement at .7m = 2.9m cap hit

large menu of players I'd prefer to him out there today, without the 3 year commitment

His defensive metrics are really bad.

He was sub-replacement 5 on 5 this year.

I do think he improves. The question is how much

- sbroads24

meh...the plus/minus with that much pp scoring might work better here

Is that driven by his play earlier in the season. As the season went on I felt like he improved his play. But what do I know?

The PP was also worse with him. Sample size isn't great, but it does make me wonder how valuable he actually is on the PP. Everyone knows what we're trying to do with him out there, and they adjusted.

like someone pointed out, he was hot until they figured out how to neutralize his shot...somehow they never adapted as a pp unit

Teams didn’t have to respect Dahlin’s shot. It was either an Eichel one timer or an Olofsson one timer.

PP coach has to allow them to move freely out there too. Everything was so static there was no movement.

Working the down low play with Reinhart and Hall in the upper slot would be a huge advantage too

I just haven't seen any playmaking ability from him. When they cheat to take away his shot, he has time and space, and then the puck just slowly goes to the point and they start over. I hope he can adapt, but it's a big question. He's playing Taylor Hall's normal spot on a PP. Will be interested to see how it plays out over the first few weeks.

Well, they also don't play with a real net front guy. Shot from the point isn't really a big part of their plan.

Reinhart down low is kind of black hole. A pretty goal once a month, but generally results in absolutely nothing.

I agree with you, it just isn't dynamic, outside of Eichel being Eichel.

makes perfect sense to bury a 40 goal scorer locked up for 7 years at 9 mil per on the bottom 6 in a cap era
- homiedclown

It's so obvious, I don't get how he thinks this.

Hall Eichel Olo/Tage
Skinner Staal Reinhart

He had it to start camp too. I haven't been to the rink, but everyone I read was talking about how good the 2nd line was playing.

I can stand some losing, it's the shooting in the foot stuff that's infuriating.

how do you know this?

jack is jack...he's is the driver...he does what he does regardless of who's on his line

- Michael Pachla

Did you listen to Duff and Biron during the game the other night? They spoke with Jack about playing with VO and it it sounded like a rock was lifted off his shoulders, a relief, they said he loved finding him and his shot. When you are happy, you play better.

Like when you have a good goalie you can take more risks and play more free but when you have a sieve on your wing who can't hold his own defensively you have to worry about that and try to score. Sports is psychological and physical. A happy player is a better player.

am thinking that because of the abbreviated camp, they'll stick with olofsson and jack on the half-walls...which isn't such a bad thing

all good points, although a happy player isn't always a better player as complacency comes into play...

if you want skinner to have a positive or even neutral effect on the team, he's got to score and he ain't gonna do enough of it with larry's all around him

It makes sense, just curious to see how it works. If it gets off to slow start, switching to Hall is a very tempting move.

His play did improve but don't tell the Skinner crowd that. Skinner's play never improved he just collected the 10 mil paycheck and said thank you very much while his sycophants' all cried tears for him as they are now. He should be cruddy politician because he has the charm for some reason.
