Skinner is not able to do that. He needs help - Sabretooth9
He was producing at a 19 goal pace over an 82 game season last year playing with dogpoop players. |

i think his point is, tage gets nothing playing with crap but probably get 20 with eichel. meanwhile skinner gets 20 with crap and 40 with eichel.. if that is even the case its still a wash on total goals but spreads out the scoring over more lines.. |

Hey, we can hope |
|
|
|
It's incredible.
The solution is simple -
Through Skinner's career, he generates offense for himself and his linemates at a very good clip. So put him on a line that's job is to produce offense and let it be. - sbroads24
If skinner played with hall and Eichel , he could score 35-40. Without him playing with Eichel he scored 14. That’s new found 26 goals. If Thompson plays with Eichel he might score 20. I believe Thompson will be good, on a 3rd line he might score 12-15. That is a total difference of 21 goals over an 80 game schedule. You add Staal and Hall added goals. You could get to 3/4 to one goal a game more. Krueger needs to have as much scoring on his top 9 and have one combination line of Rieder, Eakins, sheahan,Okposo |

makes sense if skinner is on the second line with staal and reinhart
makes no sense if playing 10 minutes a night on the 4th line
once ralph gets that reo speedwagon line rolling his is going to use it like the log line 13 plus minutes a night |

Do you think Ralph is just sticking to his guns that everyone must play well without the puck and defensively responsible, and as soon as Skinner shows he’s willing/able to do so he will jump back up in the lineup? (Has Ralph come out and said that Skinner is down the lineup because of his defensive effort, or does he just say he wants to spread the scoring out?) Does Ralph adamantly think if Skinner is going to be there long term he has to make a better all around player out of him, or could there be ulterior motives to make Skinner more willing to waive any trade limits?
It’s interesting that Quennville is doing pretty much the same thing to the PP specialist/defensively lax Yandle. Ekblad has been on PP1 while others were getting work on PP2. Yandle even spent the last couple of days skating with the second group (fringe players/taxi squad) at practice. - Ratsreign
First, Ralph has made it abundantly clear that Skinner needs to commit himself to defensive play away from the puck..going so ar as to bring up several Zoom calls between the two in which they reviewed game film to be certain Ralph communicates exactly what he meant specific to Skinner's play. He doubled down on that most recently statingthat the Coaching Staff is working with Skinner to develop that side of the play.
So no, IMO it isn't merely spreading out scoring, even though he justifies his punishment as such.
Speculation and conspiracy theories are certainly interesting and fun to consider. One has to ask why though? If Skinner could be a perennial 35-45 Goal scorer at a 0+/- with 52.4% CF...is that really hurting the team at $9m...maybe by $1m...but that is a very deceitful way to do so and destroy's the career and reputation of a player...it doesn't seem like a Ralph nor Kevyn type move. So, it may very well happen, but seems like a weak tea to me.
Interesting about Yandle |

Is it fair to ask A. What system Ralph is actually employing and B. Is the system any good? - kingcong39
There was a deep dive on Krueger before last season on The Athletic (90% sure) on the identification and development of the System. The held a Coaches Summit during the summer of 019 in which all the Coaches from the organization (Cinci, Roch, Bflo) in which each was responsible to present their idea of an ideal system and be able to Express the pro/cons...then they decided as a group the exact system to be deployed throughout the org.
IMO, a Great idea BTW.
It was described as a defensively sound 5 man system on D and on the O allowing for creativity.
Seems like Jeff is a bit too creative for Ralph. |

Skinner is high risk, high reward.
Like playing the high rollers table at the Casino.
You are either winning big or losing big.
He doesn’t want defence being sacrificed for offence and I commend that.
We all know Skinner is elite at creating offensive chances, because he doesn’t have an elite shot that’s why he experiences so many up and down scoring seasons across his career.
However when he is not hot and not scoring he’s killing us in every other facet of the sport. - Pegullaville

We currently have the #Lightning at $16,516,666 over the cap. In order to maximize their LTIR relief, they need to get as close to $16,975,000 as possible.
Waiving Schenn (-$800,000) and Johnson (-$1,075,000) today helps them get there.
Here's how:
https://twitter.com/CapFr.../1348740769029484550?s=19
$16,516,666 - ($800,000 + $1,075,000) = $14,641,666
$14,641,666 + Foote + 2 league min = $16,966,666
That would use all but $8,334 of their space AND it gets Cal Foote on the roster who has $500,000 in PB's which would give them flexibility with their LTI PB Pool.
