There’s a huge disconnect
Ralph is going to strong arm a $9 million player and former 40 goal scorer.
It’s officially a problem.
A big one at that.
Players are who they are especially a 10 year veteran. You don’t try to develop him at this point. You put him in the best position to succeed.
That is poor coaching. - Stripes77
What has Ralph shown so far, aside from typical corporate business speak, to show he's a good coach?
Honest question. |

Ralph Krueger on Jeff Skinner: "It's important no matter your role, no matter your skill level is that in general you play within (our) principles. He's continuing to work on that together with the coaching staff. Once he lets that go and relaxes and trusts his instincts ... 1/2
"... he's going to give us what we need. We need scoring right through the lineup. The present setup will give that line opportunity to add to our offense. It's important for Jeff to just keep working hard and, again, our principles need to be the guideline." 2/2 |

Watson will waive a trade to Miami!!
Please no.
If Miami gets a legit QB that could be a huge problem for the Bills going forward. |

Not a thing.
Besides Taylor Hall liking him and getting him to sign here.

you don't pay a 40 goal scorer to play with guys like e rod or sobotka though - homiedclown
That's a good point, but if you can get 30 goals (82 game schedule) from oloffson or cozens, why use skinner that way? For maybe 5 or 10 more goals above the other guys?
He should be "bringing" 15 goals with him to any line for 9 million. On talent alone. He was good and did that in Carolina right? Staal but really never a superstar center? |

That’s very backward thinking.
Why use a $9 million winger with two guys who shouldn’t be in the NHL? |

Ralph got 12 goals out of girgensons for starters.
I like how eichel broke out under Krueger , not sure if that was inevitable. Probably with eichels talent?
Good point though, Ralph is really an unproven 25th overall coach. I like him but.... |

And if your top player, as Duff said in the broadcast last night when he said he and Biron had a convo Jack and he said he loved VO's shot and finding him, basically loved playing with him. That showed in Jack's play as he had his best season.
Also, when the year before they ended up with one scoring line and finished in the bottom 5, Ralph no doubt thought change was good, and developing another scorer was as well.

I need to see Sheahan play in a few real games and the same with Cozens. From what I hear Sheahan is a good PKer. He has been in the league 9 years so he probably won't kill them defensively and maybe let Skinner do his thing. - GilPerreault11
ralph mentioned him and pk in the same breath...the issue i have is that skinner needs someone to create a little space offensively...if he's on a line with lazar and sheahan, the opposition will key their coverage heavily his way, which is what happened last year...at least with cozens there's a very real offensive threat even if he's just a rookie |

I would be interested to hear what the Sabres principles are from the coach, in non-corporate baloney speak. |

Prove a point? I’m not sure if it’s just his lack of effort on defense but hard to argue your point. Waste of money and talent of
He lands on 3,4 line all year |

“Play like a Sabre”-Kevyn Adams
What the hell does that even mean
You could play like a damn manatee for all I care as long as you win games. |

Skinner will be playing against other team's 4th liners if he actually stays there. If he can't score against 4th liners then is he really all that? |

Shouldn't skimmer be bringing some veteran play and goal scoring potential to any line?
Isnt he a play maker? a 1 on 1 speed guy? More so than anyone other than eichel.
I see your point, good players need good centers.
I just find skimmer unique, I thought his gig was to be a 5 x 5 scorer when we traded for him ? A "Never had a center" guy? But he was scoring goals without them?
The Sabres/ botts could be that stupid to give $63 million to ride dirty with eichel? |

You’re confusing playing with NHL quality players that he played with in Carolina to the players he played with last season and looks like he will be playing with this year.
He doesn’t need to play with Eichel but the Skinner Staal Reinhart line was the best line in camp so far as far as the scrimmages were considered, and that was without Eichel playing.
What’s more important? Having two lines that can produce very well and having teams worry about matching up with them or spreading it out a little bit where teams can concentrate on one player per line?
Putting Skinner on that line means teams would just focus on him. |

Rasmus Ristolainen, Kyle Okposo and Curtis Lazar aren’t practicing today with the Sabres.

Looking at the roster today with 28 players in group 1 I bet that’s your roster going into Thursday.
23 on the active roster and 5 on the taxi squad.
Group 2 goes to Rochester soon for camp on 1/15.
This is just my hunch fwiw.

Borgen
Jokiharju
McCabe
Dahlin
Miller
Irwin
Ristolainen
Mountour
Bryson
So who stays as the 7th d-man between Borgen, Irwin, and Bryson ? Will all 3 stay with 2 becoming part of the taxi-squad ?
Based on what I've seen in here, I guess the 7th d-man would be Borgen ?

Eichel is an elite player. I have a very difficult time attributing almost any of his success last season to Olofsson.
The even strength numbers indicated Eichel was slightly less productive last season compared to the prior season with Skinner. He just played more minutes. |

I want nothing to do with the Titans unless it’s in the AFC Championship game, even then they’re not my first or second choice there.
Their defense is bad but their offense with those playmakers are a huge problem. - Stripes77
The reality is neither team is that good of a match up for the Bills. However, Tennessee is inclined to put up a stinker every once in a while. Not that I would want to bank on that. |

Eichel has been trending up since his career started, and it continued despite Ralph Kruger not because of him. |
