Um now that he isn’t stapled to Eichel and is getting 50/50 zone starts instead of favorable starts his rel Corsi is -7.. not what I would call great. He also missed two essentially empty nets in the second philly game (first into provorov’s glove, second cross bar with a wide open net... we lost 2-0) would like to see more from him personally 5v5 (2 of 6 pts are 5v5). Player I would like to keep, but not overpay.

This is my take as well

For me,
it just come down to giving us the best chance to make the playoffs so we don’t even have to worry about it
The most obvious area in need of upgrade imo is Hutton, and it’s not close

Primary player Goalscoring on 5v5 for me, costs absolutely nothing.
I'd say, if they could improve that by +1.5 per game to ~2.0 from ~0.43 they would be terrific.

-Olofsson
-Staal
-Skinner

2 per game from those guys is 112, which translates to 19 goals each this season.
Challenging, but doable.

He looks a lot more invested in the defensive side of the ice to me. He's been good

I'm not an analytics guy, but olo has played under 60 nhl games. I would guess his #'s should/ could improve.

He's our 3rd best forward, behind eichel and hall

I don't think you are missing much, as you stated a day or two ago...we see what we want to see.
He's better than he was...I don't think at 5v5 he is a Top 6 player, he just doesn't find the space to get his shot off. And Broads hit it, he's a PP specialist...and a very good one at that.

And if you really wanna know, Sam’s rel corsi is +12. Even factoring for the Eichel bump that’s still insanely solid.

You knew it would turn to Sam, because he hasn't be visible. 1 game he was very good out of 7 games.

When he is noticed, it's for having a stupid look on his face after not putting forth enough effort or lack of defensive awareness.

Sam's skating and effort have been better the last 2 games after having to have the same nauseating discussion with the coaching staff.
"Sam please put in 100% effort"

I guess we see what we want to see. 👊
