Would you? I'd rather keep those two and see if maybe 1 of them can develop into something legit for a bit longer. I think if you really want Bennett you can get him with a much lower level prospect and a pick. Coached against him a few times, he has a ton of skill and can play scrappy. Not sure how that would effect the cap and too lazy to look it up.

10 games in and we have had 4 against the Caps, I know they had impact players out but they are still a strong and deep team. Flyers were some analysts' pick to win the division. I don't think Jack is 100% and it looks like we finally have some legit depth. I'm pleased where they are at. I don't understand why we're still pooping on them. They're a better team than they've been in a while...so far.

Bennett has a 2.55m cap hit for this season & is then an RFA- so we can fit him
I like him as a 3C
And he does bring a physicality we could use

I’m just not a Tage guy at all
Trying to give the kid a chance, but I’ve never liked him

Mitts has some high end skill, but just has t been able to show it at this level

I’d send them Tage straight up in a heartbeat,
and i think that could work
If they wanted Mitts, then i think I’d want something added bc he does still have high upside imo
But if they’ll take even less, then great

It’s been a much more fun watch than many of the last 5-10 seasons, that’s for damn sure

PIT looks like they may finally be bottoming out
No defense, bad goaltending, GM quitting....
Still gotta watch out for the Isles though. They’re too well coached to not get things back on track.

I think the 4th spot is up for grabs though,
so I’m gonna stay positive as long as we’re in reach

However after looking at Bennett’s analytics I wouldn’t make a deal for him at all.

However Toby Reider had the ugliest analytics I’ve ever seen and the soccer coach has done wonders for him

Bc analytics are often based on Corsi- which is an extremely flawed stat imo
Or other stats that are quite subjective- like goals above replacement
And i hate the per 60min stats, they’re almost useless

Rieder looked great in the playoffs last year
Guys on bad teams often have crappy analytics
But that doesn’t mean they can’t be effective players in the right roles
Look at Larsson & Girgs when we were trying to play them in the top9, vs when we finally spotted them into the roles they were better suited to succeed in (for example)

Bennett is not my favorite player by any means,
but he was REALLY good in the playoffs last year as well
And he does bring a physicality we could use
Since we can get him cheap (I’m assuming),
then I’m cool giving it a shot

There's opportunities out there for the Sabres to improve the team, do they have the balls to do it. Or do we just need to wait and see if they can Gel.

I still think the Sabres are one more solid top 9 forward away.

Hopefully Adams can work the phones.
