Been a fan since '79 (I was 8), and for sure thought we'd have a Cup by now. 41 years later...

Dad and uncle worked for the Sabres as statisticians back in the day, and dad worked the old message board in the Aud. My uncle, Lee Coppola, gave the French Connection their name. I still have totes full of old media guides from every team (old Whalers, Nordiques, etc.). Dad would give them all to me after each season (couldn't wait to get my hands on them).

Point being, like you, I'll always love this franchise and I still believe I'll see the Cup raised downtown one day. But time is running short.

Tough to do a rebuild right with mediocre goaltending
Teams that did it fast, had good young goalies like Quick in LA & Fleury in PIT
It’s hard for young teams to win 5-4
And it’s obviously hard to win “defensively” without “good” goaltending

I’d like to at least see us bring in a goalie& try that before we totally scrap this & start over again

There is a distinct stench of failure that never seems to fade away from this franchise the past 10 years.
