If it turns out to be Gillis, fine. I'm not concerned about quotes that make a fanbase feel good about itself for the next five minutes. I care about results. His track record when it comes to result is mixed. His resume (mainly in Vancouver) was okay but not spectacular, especially when you consider what he had to work with (i.e. a lot). It's not enough to make me dismiss the idea, but it's not enough to make me say "get him at any cost" either. The most important part is that someone other than the Pegulas make decision from the top down.

The thing about Gillis, thinking back on an article I read about his history during and after his GM tenure, is that he reflected long and hard about the why's that caused the what's; and he set forth for a couple years to research the commonalities of consistently winning organizations. With real-life experience in the GM position coupled with real life examples of winning, it gives him a rather unique position of strength to convince the Pegula's on his recommendations.

In any event, it ain't happening.

The potential Eichel trade has a chance at making the ROR trade look even.
