That should be the next frontier for Bettman to pursue...get rid of guaranteed contracts..leave teams to negotiate guaranteed monies like the NFL does, as well as restructuring contracts. It is ridiculous to have guarantees at age 32 for 3, 4 more years. All UFA contracts should not be guaranteed..it terms out with reaching UFA status.

Its not a net zero. You want to take an assistant and employ him to be coach you have to pay him.

I have very limited inside info. But I do know Kevyn is doing his homework on replacements.

Its not a net zero. You want to take an assistant and employ him to be coach you have to pay him.

Thats the way these things work.

Unless that's worked into the contract, I assume a revised contract would need to be negotiated. I can't imagine an interim would really make much more than an assistant. Maybe another million?

One could argue the Sabres are a red headed step child. Which is odd, because it was the Pegula's first Buffalo business. And how passionate Terry used to seem about the team. Of course, with the Bills being a success, let alone being the cash cow that is the NFL, no wonder the Sabres have become.. the step child.

devil's advocate: all those remarkable moves, truly remarkable puck control and maneuvering, have been tried at the nhl-level by dahlin...it's might be a good idea to remember that he's playing against the best players in the world on team's who's worst player is better than most (nearly all?) of the players he faced prior...nhl teams have miles of tape (or terabytes of info) on him and his tendencies with and without the puck

let's see...well, it's been nearly 10 yrs. since their honeymoon phase came crashing to a halt with the lucic/miller incident followed some weeks later by the embarrassing 8-3 loss on his 'triumphant' return to pittsburgh with his team...

what's a few more months?...right?

This is currently the issue. He is being shltered too much.

There was someone who took video on twitter and did a snap shot.
Where Dahin consistently passes the puck and then stays back in the D-zone.
He doesn't join the rush. he's coached not to.



Its what D-men do in Soccer. Get it to the mids and the mids do the transitions/ ball handling.

Its astonishing.

defense has always been a struggle for him, even in sweden when he was doing those remarkable things...housley let him be the thoroughbred he is, i think ralph has tried to instill defensive awareness to his game i believe to ready him for no. 1 d responsibilities...
